BOX SCORE 2 SALEM – For the second straight day Corban and College of Idaho split a pair of pitchers duels in NAIA West baseball action played at Warrior Field.
The host Warriors scored early and then held off a Coyotes rally to take a 4-3 victory in the first game, while a C of I rally in the second game resulted in a 3-2 victory.
Corban is now 15-13 overall and 7-5 in the league, while College of Idaho sees its record go to 15-13 and its NAIA West mark to 6-6.

The Warriors scored twice in the first and twice more in the third and then got three outstanding innings of relief from
Daniel Aranda to nail down the victory.
Rilyn Lewchuk allowed three runs on eight hits in six innings to up the victory and improve his record to 2-2. Aranda did not allow a hit and walked one to pick up his first save of the season.
Corban got four straight hits from
Marc Gallegos, Ryan Frost,
Daniel Orr and
Jordan Johansen to get its two runs in the bottom of the first. Johansen drove in one run with a single and the other scored on a throwing error.
The hosts made it 4-0 in the third when Gallegos reached on an error, advanced to third on a single by Frost and scored on a base hit by Orr. After Johansen's sacrifice bunt,
Vince Gonzalez delivered the second run with a sacrifice fly.
College of Idaho didn't get a lot going against Lewchuck until the fifth, finally scoring a run on a double by Jake Hennessey and a RBI single by Sam Johnston. The 'Yotes added two runs on three hits in the sixth. Mitch Skaggs and Jordan Grubbs started the inning with consecutive singles and they moved up a base on a sacrifice bunt by Cole Mansanarez. Nick Muncy delivered the first run with a ground out and Jake Hennessey singled to drive in the second.
Aranda came into the game in the top of the seventh, pitched around an error and a walk, and ended up retiring the final seven batters.
Both teams finished with eight hits, Hennessey getting two for C of I and both Frost and Orr getting a pair for the Warriors.
Ryan Eddy took the loss in a complete-game effort. Only one of the runs he allowed was earned, and he struck out five and walked none.

Tony Davidson gave the Warriors six solid innings, allowed just three hits and striking four, though he walked five. Davidson was the pitcher of record when he gave way in the seventh because his teammates scored a run in the first when
Davis Alderman hit a single to drive in
Benjamin Liogon, who had doubled.
The 'Yotes got to the Corban bullpen for all three of their runs in the seventh inning. With two out they loaded the bases on two walks sandwiched around a base hit by Chase Miller. The first run came in when Grubbs was hit by a pitch, and Mansanarez followed with a two-run single to left field.
Corban scored one run in the eighth and had a chance for more, but relief pitcher Kyle Garvin entered the game and pitched out of trouble.
Ben Straka reached on an error,
Scott Dreier followed with a single through the left side of infield, and
Ryan Rosas tucked a line drive single just inside the left field line to make the score 3-2.
Marc Gallegos reached on an infield single to load the bases, bringing Garvin to the mound, and the right-hander coaxed a fly out and ground out to end the threat. Garvin then closed out his fifth save of the season by retiring the Warriors in order in the ninth.
College of Idaho managed just five hits, while Corban came up with 10, including two apiece from Gallegos, Liogon and Alderman.
Mitch Viydo was the winning pitcher, going 6 2/3 innings to improve his record to 4-1.
Eli Driessen ended up taking the loss and is now 0-2 for the season.
Corban returns to action at 2 p.m. Tuesday when it hosts Willamette in a non-conference game.
