Corban Rated No. 12 in NAIA Men’s Soccer MRPI Rankings

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – In the first regular-season edition of the 2016 NAIA Men's Soccer Modified Ratings Percentage Index (MRPI), the Corban University men's soccer team finds itself ranked No. 12 overall.

This ranking comes on the heels of the Warriors being ranked No. 14 in the NAIA Coaches' Top-25 Poll yesterday.

The MRPI is the most important of all of the rankings in NAIA Soccer, as it was first adopted by the NAIA in 2010, and it will select the at-large qualifying teams and seed the 32-team national championship opening round field. For a MRPI calendar, click here.

The final MRPI, used to select at-large teams to the NAIA National Championship Opening Round, will occur on Monday, November 14. The MRPI consists of the team's modified winning percentage, their opponents' winning percentage, and the cumulative rating points from the NAIA Men's Soccer Coaches' Top-25 Poll. Each of the three values has a weighted percentage calculated in the MRPI. The MRPI modifies the value of home/away/neutral results and adds more value for games against opponents ranked in their respective national poll.

The only other team from the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) in the top-30 is Rocky Mountain College at No. 20 overall.

Corban, ranked No. 12, received an at-large berth to the NAIA National Championships Opening Round last year via being ranked high enough in the final MRPI in 2015.

In addition to receiving an at-large berth, there are two other ways that teams from the CCC can receive berths into the NAIA National Championships Opening Round. The first would be to win the CCC regular season title, and the second would be to capture the CCC Tournament Championship. If the winner of the regular season also wins the tournament, then the runner-up in the tournament receives the second automatic berth to nationals.

The Warriors (8-1-0, 3-1-0 CCC) return to action on Saturday when they host Northwest Christian University (5-3-1, 1-2-1 CCC) at Warrior Field. Kickoff is set for a 3 p.m. start. If you can't make it to the match, be sure to follow along via live stats and the live video broadcast.
