Corban Volleyball Soars Past Eagles in Four-Set Victory

KIRKLAND, Ore. – The (RV) Corban University volleyball team dominated early and finished strong in a four-set triumph (25-11, 25-23, 11-25, 25-18) over Northwest University on Friday evening. For the Warriors it marks their third-straight win to begin Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) action.

"It is always great to get a win under our belt in the tough CCC! The team came out executing our game plan," said Corban head coach Kim McLain. "Northwest made adjustments causing us to struggle in the third set, but I was proud of how the team bounced back, winning the fourth set."

In the first stanza, Corban came out absolutely on fire, swinging for 19 kills on a .500 attack percentage. Defensively, the Warriors were just as good in the set, holding the Eagles to just a .185 hitting mark.

The second set was more of the same offensively, but Northwest kept it close until the end when the Warriors came through in the clutch for narrow two-point win.

The Eagles made some adjustments in set three, forcing the Warriors into 11 hitting errors, resulting in the extension of the match to set four, but Corban bounced back well and responded with the triumphant set-four win.

Adriana Aguayo was sizzling early and often on the night for Corban, racking up a team-best 17 kills in the win. Tori Edwards chipped in an efficient effort with 12 kills on a .346 attacking mark, and Cassie Cunningham recorded nine kills in the triumph.

Defensively, Kealani Ontai racked up a team-high 19 digs, and Lauren Condon notched nine digs as well for the Navy and Gold. Keeping the flow of the offense going all evening long were Cierra Leopoldino and Jadyn Mullen, as the duo combined for 44 assists.

Corban (7-5, 3-0 CCC) returns to action tomorrow evening when it heads south to Olympia to take on The Evergreen State College. First serve in Olympia is set for 5 p.m.
