CORVALLIS, Ore. – After a dominating opening week on the pitch, during which the No. 20-ranked Corban University men's soccer team outscored its two opponents by a shocking 16-0 margin, Warrior standouts Carlos Llamosa and Noe Favila have been named the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Men's Soccer Players of the Week.
Llamosa was recognized as the CCC Defensive Player of the Week for his role in Corban's two clean sheets, while Favila's four total goals made him a shoe-in for the conference's Offensive Player of the Week nod.
"We are excited to see their performances recognized by the conference," head coach Tim Kagey said of his two honorees. "They are glad to be back on the pitch after missing last season. I'm proud of the way they have worked to get back, and they both have been tremendous on both sides of the ball this year."
Llamosa and Favila were a part of the Warrior squad last year, but neither was able compete for the Navy and Gold. Llamosa's 2019 season was cut short after just two games due to injury, while Favila was forced to sit out a year of competition due to intra-conference transfer policies.
But now both are back, and showcasing just how significant an impact their presence can make on the pitch.
Llamosa spearheaded a back line that allowed just eight combined shots between last week's two shutouts, including just six from the 2019 CCC Tournament Runner-Up Mountaineers. For context, that's tied for the second-lowest shot count totaled in a game by EOU in program history.
His presence was felt on the offensive end, as well, as he assisted Corban's first goal against the Mounties, before tallying two more assists against Multnomah. He also found the back of the net himself, converting a penalty kick in the 66th minute of the squad's 12-0 romping of Multnomah.
For Favila, it's hard to imagine a better start to his Navy and Gold career. The senior forward picked off a careless switching pass from an Eastern Oregon defender and beat the goalkeeper in a one-on-one breakaway for his first goal of the season on Monday.

He would then go on to earn a hat trick in Thursday's win against Multnomah, dishing out an assist along the way.
Corban (2-0) is set to begin conference play this weekend, traveling down Interstate-5 to challenge Bushnell University in back-to-back contests on Sunday and Monday.
