SALEM, Ore. – The Corban University women's lacrosse team traveled east to face the Mountaineers of Eastern Oregon University in a 7V7 exhibition on Saturday evening. The Navy and Gold saw impressive offensive output from several different contributors, scoring a season-high 19 goals in the triumph.
"Tonight, we were able to showcase our versatility on both sides of the field and our growing ability to play together as a true team," said head coach
Kylie McMinn. "I am so proud of what these ladies are building, and we are all thankful to God for bringing us on this journey."
Corban was able to score early and often in this matchup, taking a 6-1 advantage into the second period. At halftime, the Warriors led 10-2, before extending it to 15-4 after three. Finally, the Warriors scored four times in the fourth and came out with the victory 19-5.
Geneen Impreso was responsible for a game-high six goals, while
Sydney Davis added five,
Devyn Davis scored three times,
Sarah Whitbey and
Meredith Pinkerton contributed two goals each, and
Katelyn Amerino scored one of her own.
Devyn Davis led the Warriors in draw controls, as she earned 11 of them over the course of the bout.
Payton Nuse was stellar in net with 19 saves, helping lead her team to a well earned victory.
Eastern Oregon boasted three goals scored by Samantha Buckley, and one goal each from Regann Donahue and Kiana Watchman.
Saydee Hetrick led the Mounties in draw controls, as she ended her night with 10 of them.
Corban (1-2) will play the Mountaineers again tomorrow morning, in another exhibition matchup, with aspirations of winning three straight competitions.
