CORVALLIS, Ore. – For the second time in the young 2020-21 season, Corban University volleyball standout Avari Ridgway was named the Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) Attacker of the Week. The conference office announced the complete list of honorees on Monday afternoon.
"Avari's accolades are a true testament to her work ethic and determination," said head coach Kim McLain. "I am honored to be her coach and I look forward to the rest of the season!"
Ridgway also collected Attacker of the Week honors for the week of February 15-21, which was the last time the Navy and Gold was in action prior to this past weekend's four-match slate in Lewiston, Idaho.
The junior from McMinnville, Ore. delivered a stellar performance in the No. 13-ranked Warriors' three-win weekend. She tallied double-digit kill counts in each of the four contests, including a season-high 16 in Saturday's morning bout with Oregon Tech.
She picked opposing defenses apart with pinpoint precision and efficiency, tallying an attack percentage of .500 or above in three of the four battles. She ranks second in the CCC in attack percentage on the season, boasting a clip of .357.
Her 3.81 kills per set is tops among the hyper-talented conference, and her torrid start to the 2021 spring season is a big reason why the Navy and Gold is off to a 7-1 start.
Ridgway and the Warriors will return to conference competition on March 19-20, hosting conference newcomer Lewis-Clark State College at the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center.
