GULF SHORES, Ala. – Corban University women's track & field distance runner Gracie Long turned in an impressive performance in the 3,000-meter steeplechase prelims during Wednesday's action at the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Long ran the program's fastest-ever race in the event at the national meet, clinching a spot in the finals on Friday afternoon.
RESULTS
"I am so happy for Gracie and her performance today," said head coach Norm Berney. "Throughout this year, she's competed when it counts, and she placed seventh tonight in a quality field. She is a great competitor, and we're excited to see what she does on Friday."
Long performed admirably in the event, establishing yet another personal record in Wednesday evening's race. She shaved six seconds off her previous career best, crossing the finish line at the 11:09.43 mark, placing seventh overall.
That was good enough to earn her a spot in Friday afternoon's finals, where she will look to become just the third female All-American in Corban's history. The top-eight performers from Friday's finals will earn the prestigious recognition.
The 3,000-meter steeplechase finals will be held on Friday (May 28) at 2 p.m. CT (12 p.m. PT).
