KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced the NAIA Baseball All-America teams on Tuesday morning, with Corban University baseball ace Zack Simon being named an NAIA Honorable-Mention All-American for his tremendous season on the hill for the Navy and Gold. Simon becomes just the second player in program history to achieve All-American status.

"This is a huge honor for Simon," said head coach Derek Legg. "He is a guy that just wants to compete and win for his team, so to see him get some personal recognition on a national stage is very exciting. I have no doubt this will make him work even harder."
The award comes on the heels of one of the most impressive seasons on the mound that the Navy and Gold has ever seen. Simon was already named the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) Pitcher of the Year for his standout campaign, and now he joins renowned sidewinder Jacob Kopra (2014) as the squad's second-ever NAIA All-American.
Simon boasted the 36th-lowest ERA in the entire NAIA at 2.63, nearly a half a run less than the next-best ERA in the CCC (Lewis-Clark State's Trent Sellers, 3.10). He was a workhouse on the bump all season long, averaging a CCC-high 6.2 innings pitched per game and playing a pivotal role in the squad's historic run to the NAIA National Tournament.
Opponents hit just .262 off the righty in 2021, and his stellar strikeout-to-walk ratio for the spring campaign ended at 63:12. Fanning nearly a batter per inning, Simon averaged 0.93 strikeouts per inning this spring, a testament to his dominance.
In addition, his six wins are tied for sixth all-time in the program record books.
Perhaps most exciting of all, the electric righty from Las Vegas, Nev. was just a sophomore during his All-American 2021 regimen, and he is set to return to lead the Navy and Gold's staff again in 2022.
