CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) office announced the WVT Laboratory CCC Players of the Week on Monday, with the No. 15-ranked Corban University volleyball team sweeping all three of the conference's weekly volleyball awards. Rylee Troutman was named the conference's Attacker of the Week, Kealani Ontai was tabbed as the CCC Defender of the Week, and Jadyn Mullen was recognized as the Setter of the Week.
"It is such an honor to coach these young ladies," said head coach Kim McLain. "They have put in hard work, which is paying off! They truly make a difference and are leaders both on and off the court."
The awards come on the heels of a perfect 6-0 week for the Warriors down in California, with four of those wins coming against teams who are either ranked or receiving votes in the NAIA Top-25 Poll. Corban capped off its stellar week with a pair of road wins against No. 9 Westmont, who dropped the two home contests after only losing twice at home in the 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020 seasons combined.
Troutman had a career week for the Warriors both offensively and defensively. She registered a new career high in kills (18) and hitting percentage (.500) vs. Benedictine Mesa, before setting a new career best in kills (19) and a career high in digs (17) in the squad's thrilling five-set victory against Westmont on Saturday.
On the defensive end, experienced libero Ontai picked up right where she left off during her All-Conference campaign last year, notching 101 digs between the six matches and averaging 4.81 digs per set. She now leads the CCC in both categories (among eligible players).
Mullen's Setter of the Week award comes after she racked up 120 assists in the six triumphs, averaging 0.57 a set. She also made her presence felt defensively, ending the week with 36 digs.
The Warriors (6-0), who were just named the CCC Team of the Week for their blistering start, will be back in action this week, hosting Linn-Benton Community College in a scrimmage on Wednesday and crosstown rival Willamette University in an exhibition on Saturday.
