SALEM, Ore. – With virtually the entire 2020-21 roster returning for the Corban University women's basketball team, head coach Bill Pilgeram has added six newcomers to the fold for the upcoming campaign.
"I am really happy with our incoming recruiting class and excited to see them on the court on a daily basis," said Pilgeram. "They are high character individuals who are very good fits for Corban University and are going to make an immediate positive impact here both on and off the court!"
Izzy Boring – 5'9" – Guard – Shadle Park HS – Spokane, Wash.
Coming to Salem from Spokane, Wash., boring provides an immediate boost to the Warriors' back court. A multi-sport athlete at Shadle Park High School, Boring played basketball, soccer, and ran track while competing there. On the court, she was a Second-Team All-League honoree in her junior and senior seasons, while also making the regional All-Star team. She was voted Most Inspirational on her team in three consecutive seasons.
Madison Hodnett – 6'2" – Forward – Liberty Charter School – Nampa, Idaho
Coming to Corban from Nampa, Idaho, Hodnett was a dominant force for Liberty Charter School prior to joining the collegiate ranks. While competing there, she collected numerous accolades, including four All-State Tournament teams and four All-Conference awards on the hardwood. She also was named the Conference Player of the Year and the All-State Tournament Defensive MVP in her junior season, while being identified by the Idaho Press as "one of the best players in the state" in the spring of 2020.
Hodnett intends to study kinesiology during her time at Corban.
Tori Younker – 5'7" – Guard – Coeur d'Alene HS – Coeur d'Alene, Idaho
No stranger to success on big stages, Younker brings a winning pedigree to Corban's roster. A native of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, she helped lead Coeur d'Alene High School to two District Championships and a fourth-place finish in the Idaho State Tournament. Individually, she was a three-year captain, the recipient of the Ginni Lenz Spirit of a Viking Award, and made appearances at the Senior Idaho All-Star Game and Mullan All-Star Game.
Younker intends to study kinesiology during her time at Corban.
Alyssa Wyllie – 5'5" – Guard – Calaveras HS – Valley Springs, Calif.
Sister of current Corban softball standout Madison Wyllie, Alyssa Wyllie will compete on the hardwood for the Navy and Gold after an exceptional career at Calaveras High School. A multi-sport standout there, she excelled not only in basketball, but also in volleyball, and her athleticism should prove to be a valuable asset to the Warriors' back court.
Wyllie plans to major in psychology while at Corban.
Neha Joseph – 5'4" – Guard – Cascade Christian HS – Medford, Ore.
Joseph comes to the Willamette Valley from southern Oregon, where she competed in basketball, softball, and volleyball at Cascade Christian High School. The Medford, Ore. native was a lockdown defender on the court there, earning First All-League Defensive Team accolades for her exceptional efforts in 2020.
Joseph intends to hone her studies in elementary education while at the university.
Emaleigh Pires – 5'9" – Forward – Regis HS – Stayton, Ore.
A product of nearby Regis High School, Pires makes the short trek to Corban to join the Navy and Gold for the 2021-22 campaign. Pires was a four-year member of both the basketball and volleyball teams at Regis, while also playing a year of softball and track & field during her high school career. An exceptional teammate on and off the court, she won the team's Sportsmanship Award two years in a row, while also setting the program's defensive record for blocks.
