SALEM, Ore. – Corban University associate athletic director Jarett Thoren has announced that he will be resigning from his position at the end of the 2021-22 academic year. Thoren and his wife, Dani, have accepted roles as missionaries with Cadence International, and will be moving overseas to Okinawa, Japan to minister to U.S. military families.

"For the past four years I have had the distinct privilege of working with Jarett," said director of athletics Sue Roth. "Serving as the associate athletic director and director of athletic communications, Jarett has been instrumental in showcasing Corban Athletics and continuing our commitment to excellence. Everything Jarett does, he does with integrity and to the highest of standards. His talent and creativity seem to have no bounds, as seen by the amazing Corban Athletics social media presence, the design of Tim Hills Court, our nationally recognized website, and so many other behind-the-scenes projects he has led."

An alum of the school himself, Thoren began working in the Warrior athletic department in 2018, and has overseen the university's external athletic communications since 2019. His job duties included the direction of all athletic marketing efforts, social media, sports information, statistics and record-keeping, and operational budget fundraising.

"I am so incredibly grateful for the past four years at Corban," Thoren remarked. "This university will always have a special place in my heart. I have been honored to serve the student-athletes here. I have had so much joy in being a part of this athletic department, and this goodbye is an incredibly bittersweet one, but the Lord has called us to a new journey, and we are eager to follow His direction. We will always be huge supporters of Corban and its student-athletes."

During his time at Corban, Thoren oversaw an athletic communications department that has won numerous accolades for its coverage of Warrior athletic events, which included national acclaim for creativity in social media marketing and a website that was perennially voted in the top-10 among NAIA institutions.

He played a key role in the construction of the new outdoor athletic complex, and also designed the cutting-edge basketball court design on the new Tim Hills Court.

His varied responsibilities also included photography, videography, graphic design, broadcasting for home events, and oversight of game management staff. The university has seen a 36% percent increase in funds secured to its general operational budget from the time Thoren began as the lead on the department's fundraising efforts.

"I am excited for the path that God is taking Jarett and Dani on, because I know that the Lord's Kingdom will be advanced by their work and ministry," Roth added. 

The Thorens will be moving this summer to Chatan, Okinawa, utilizing their love for athletics to run sports camps and share the Gospel with youth whose families are stationed on the island.
