Corban’s Robert Swoboda Honored as Oregon Sports Awards’ Small College Male Athlete of the Year

For more than 70 years, the Oregon Sports Awards have honored the top athletes from a variety of competition levels in the state. From high school to college and the pros, the annual awards have honored thousands of area athletes, teams, coaches, and administrators for their excellence over the decades.

Awards that were handed out last night include the Johnny Carpenter Prep Athletes of the Year, the Harry Glickman Professional Athletes of the Year, the Slats Gill Sportsperson of the Year, the Bill Hayward Amateur Athletes of the Year, the Ad Rutschman Small College Athletes of the Year, and the George Pasero Teams of the Year.

"What a cool surprise to hear about Rob being named the Sport Oregon Small College Male Athlete of the Year," Men's & Women's Cross Country/Track & Field Head Coach
Todd Bos shared on the topic of Swoboda's accomplishment.

"It is a fitting cap to his historic season of setting 3 school records, winning the 5000m Conference Championship, and then winning the 10,000m at the NAIA Outdoor T&F Championships. Rob did his best to run for God's glory and represented Corban with excellence and class," Bos said proudly.

Swoboda's National Championship this past spring made him the first ever individual male Outdoor Track & Field National Champion in Corban University history, and one of three National Championships to be won in the spring of 2022 alone for the university.
