Troutman Named Back-to-Back CCC Player of the Year, Five Warriors Earn All-Conference Honors

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) announced the 2023 Volleyball All-Conference teams and individual award winners early on Thursday morning, with the No. 7-ranked Corban University Volleyball program securing a large portion of the honors handed out by the CCC office. Junior outside hitter Rylee Troutman became the first two-time and back-to-back Rize Laboratory Player of the Year for the conference in program history, joining teammate and sophomore setter Abby Guindy on the First Team All-Conference list. Junior middle blocker Allyson Reid and sophomore opposite hitter Makayla Roginski each found their names among the Second Team All-Conference award winners, while freshman middle blocker Emma Bischoff added the first of many accolades in what will be a successful collegiate career with an Honorable Mention nod for the 2023 season.

"I am truly honored and blessed to coach these athletes and look forward to the journey ahead, seeing what all of them will accomplish both on the court and in their personal lives!" Warriors' head coach Kim McLain shared regarding her most recent All-Conference selections.

To nobody's surprise, Troutman was selected as the 2023 Player of the Year for the conference following yet another dominant season both at the net and in the backcourt, proving that she is without a doubt the most versatile all-around player the CCC has to offer. She is the only player in Corban program history to log over 1,500 kills and over 1,000 digs in a career, and she has done it all in only three full seasons of play.

Troutman earned her second-consecutive MVP award for the conference following an electric season of offense, defense, blocking, and serving. She tallied 468 total kills with a 4.22 kills per set average, lightyears ahead of her next conference opponent in both categories on a .261 attacking clip. Defensively, Troutman logged 42.0 blocks in her front row rotations, 285 digs in her back row rotations, while adding 26 aces at the service line.

"Rylee has continued to put in the work this year proving that she is truly a player to be reckoned with!" Coach McLain exclaimed about her third consecutive Player of the Year award winner for the CCC. "She has grown as a leader, always looking for ways to give to her teammates, encouraging others and striving to get better in her skill each day. Rylee has incredible IQ in the game of volleyball which allows her to play the game at a high level, yet she would be the first to tell you that she wants to learn and grow in the game which makes her an amazing player to coach."

In only her second season of collegiate volleyball, Guindy has already developed her game into one of the most tactile in the NAIA, serving as the starting setter for one of the most efficient offenses in the nation. She's the only setter to garner First Team honors in this year's awards ceremony, proving that the remainder of the CCC has already grown to respect her skillset.

Guindy has dealt out a team-high 629 assists through 30 matches thus far, averaging 5.82 dimes per set to rank second in the conference for both categories. She's already surpassed her 2022 totals in two less matches played by nearly 150 assists, adding 25 service aces and 191 digs to also set new career-high marks for a single season.

When asked to speak about her First Team setter, Coach McLain shared, "Abby has proved this year her ability to run an offense, setting her attackers up for success, and is always looking for ways to improve daily. She is growing strategically which has helped her achieve her goals on the court. I look forward to watching her grow as we continue this journey with Abby."

Reid has had the best season of her collegiate career thus far as her junior season draws near to its end, leading the team in total blocks with 118.0 this year which ranks her second in the CCC and averages out to 1.08 blocks per set. In addition to the success she's had blocking her opponents, she's also added 169 kills, 35 digs, and done it all with a .287 kill percentage.

Despite having an entire season still to be played next year, Reid is only six blocks away from breaking the all-time program record for career blocks, as she's swatted back 425.0 balls over her career to become one of the most feared middle blockers in both school and conference history. This season alone, Reid ranks fourth in the conference for both blocks per set and kill percentage, just barely edging Bischoff by less than one percent for the team-high mark.

"Allyson's growth this year started in the offseason, putting in the work both off and on the court," Coach McLain continued down the line of her All-Conference superstars. "Her growth in her ability to see her opposing attackers has allowed her to be a strong presence at the net, helping her team's defensive success. She continues to find ways to improve her game every day. I am honored to coach Allyson and look forward to one more year with her."

The reigning CCC Freshman of the Year was as far away from a sophomore slump as she possibly could be, as she smashed 282 kills from the opposite side of Troutman to sit just 12 away from her freshman season grand totals with an entire postseason still to be played. The Gresham, Oregon native averages 2.56 kills per set and has totaled 89.0 blocks despite playing in only half of the Warriors' rotations.

It's only been a two year sample size thus far, but Roginski has already established herself as a feared opposite hitter with a heavy left arm, crushing the ball through blockades with intensity that rocks the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center and brings everyone to their feet. Whether it be from the right side or the occasional middle of the net attack, the south paw brings her all every single play.

Coach McLain was quoted with stating, "Makayla is a strong player with a powerful arm! Her offensive threat is hard to stop. Makayla is working daily to get better, never giving up on improving each day. I enjoy watching her growth both strategically as well as physically. It is a blessing to coach Makayla, seeing her joy of the game and always looking for ways to develop."

One of multiple freshman newcomers that have taken the CCC by storm for Coach McLain and her staff, Bischoff didn't miss a beat upgrading from the high school to college volleyball scene, as she's had to utilize her versatility all over the court and showcase her God-given talents. Whether it be in the middle, the outside, in the backcourt, or at the service line, Bischoff has proven she's just getting started with three more seasons of Warrior Volleyball still to be played.

Bischoff concluded the regular season of her freshman stint with 181 kills via a .282 kill percentage, ranking second on the team and fifth in the CCC for efficient attacking. Her 108.0 blocks thus far are just outside the top ten for a single season in the navy and gold uniforms yet still good enough for a top five finish in the conference, adding 29 service aces and 50 digs to demonstrate her resourcefulness all around the court.

"Emma is an incredible athlete!" Coach McLain said when considering her first year all-star. "She brings power and versatility to our game and is always looking for ways to improve, but also wants to make those around her successful. I am impressed with what she has accomplished this year, her growth has been outstanding! I look forward to what is to come with Emma!"

The No. 7-ranked Warriors will begin their CCC Tournament run tomorrow at 4pm in La Grande, where they'll battle a team yet to be determined for a spot in the conference championships. Their opponent will be set following the quarterfinal round throughout Friday, as the Navy and Gold will "host" the highest remaining seed of the quarterfinal teams in the first of two semifinal matches.
