CORVALLIS, Ore. – The 18 Corban University varsity sports were rewarded for their commitment to academic excellence by the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) today, as they were selected as one of nine schools to meet the qualifications of Presidents' Academic Excellence status for the 2022-23 school year, which was announced by CCC Commissioner Rob Cashell earlier this morning.

"Receiving this distinction by the CCC is such an honor for our department and University," Warriors' Director of Athletics Bill Pilgeram stated when he learned of the recent announcement by the conference. "Our student-athletes work extremely hard day-in and day-out both in the classroom and on their respective fields of play to represent Corban to the fullest, and we're so proud of what they have accomplished this year and in their seasons of competition. They set the standard for what many student-athletes look to achieve, not just at our institution, but on a regional and national basis as well."
In order to receive the designation, a department must achieve an overall combined GPA of 3.0 or better among their student athletes (men/women) that compete in sports that the CCC sponsors and declares a champion in and have 60% or higher of student-athletes who are eligible to receive Academic All-Conference (sophomore standing/3.2 GPA) recognition. Those varsity sports include men's/women's (M/W) soccer, M/W golf, M/W basketball, M/W wrestling, M/W cross country, M/W track & field, women's volleyball, baseball, and softball.
The Corban Athletic department averaged a 3.34 cumulative GPA among the above listed sports to hit the first set of qualifications for the award, while maintaining the necessary 60% of student-athletes who were eligible to receive Academic All-Conference accolades for their respective season of competition. The department's 3.34 cumulative GPA is good enough for fifth in the conference among the nine eligible schools, which can be found below.
