Quartet of Warriors Earn All-CCC Accolades for No. 8 Corban Volleyball

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) office has announced the recipients of the Women's Volleyball All-Conference and Special Award Winners for the 2024 season, where four different student-athletes from the No. 8-ranked Corban University Women's Volleyball team were honored by the conference for their athletic performances during the regular season. Senior middle blocker Allyson Reid and junior setter Abby Guindy earned First Team honors, junior opposite hitter Makayla Roginski secured Second Team accolades, and redshirt junior middle blocker Jadah Schmidtke was an Honorable Mention All-Conference selection to represent the Navy and Gold members on this year's postseason awards listing.

"I am blessed and honored to coach this group of student-athletes, not only for what they bring to the court but for their efforts in the classroom, as well as how they make a difference on campus and in our community," explained Warriors' head coach Kim McLain regarding her most recent All-Conference selections. "I'm looking forward to the journey ahead not only for these four, but the team that surrounds them."

The four Navy and Gold selections announced today by the CCC office are the thirty-sixth through thirty-ninth All-Conference honorees for Corban volleyball since Coach McLain took over the program in 2015, averaging nearly four selections in every season to represent one of the highest averages in the conference and across the nation.

The Warriors' all-time leader in blocks, Reid added 134.0 blocks to her career totals this season to bring her total to 592.0 in five years played, representing the fourth most by a single student-athlete in the CCC's 32-year history. She finished the 2024 season ranked third in the conference in blocks per set at 1.33, while swatting back the most block assists (120) out of the entire CCC and eleventh-highest average in the entirety of the NAIA. In addition, Reid has added 176 kills at the net for the Warriors with her highest kills per set mark of her career at 1.71.

"Ally has put in the work both on and off the court," Coach McLain commented on one of her two starting middle blockers to earn All-Conference honors. "Even in her fifth year, she continues to push herself to get better! Ally is one of the top blockers in Corban history and truly makes a difference for us at the net defensively. Ally is an invaluable asset to this team and program, and I am extremely proud of her for all the hard work and her leadership she has provided this season."

Representing the first back-to-back first team setter of Coach McLain's tenure and only one for the program in over a decade, Guindy was dynamic running the Warriors' offense once again with 617 assists dealt out over 100 sets played for the highest average per set (6.17) among all CCC teams that run a 6-2 offensive scheme with two setters rotating in and out. She was just as productive in the backcourt by securing 204 digs to average over two per set for the first time in her career, locking up opposing defenses for six double-double performances in 2024.

When asked about her back-to-back first team setter, Coach McLain stated, "Abby's selection to the All-Conference First Team is a reflection of her skill and leadership on the court. As a setter, her hard work, dedication, and determination not only make her a standout player but also inspire those around her. I'm incredibly proud of her achievements and excited to see how she continues to grow and lead our team!"

The starting opposite hitter for Coach McLain, Roginski led Corban volleyball in kills for the first time in her career with 284 across 102 sets played for a 2.78 average while attacking at a respectable .235 kill percentage. She's stepped up her game at the net defensively as well with 89 blocks for a career-best 0.87 average per set, setting career-highs in the backcourt as well with 68 digs despite playing in 25 less sets than in 2023 thus far. This marks the third-straight second team honor of her three-year career to set the Gresham native up for a stellar senior season in 2025.

Coach McLain carried on with her thoughts, this time regarding her right side hitter by stating, "Makayla's award is a testament to her relentless work ethic and dedication to the game. She consistently puts in the effort during practices and matches, showing a willpower that elevates not only her performance, but also that of her teammates. I am proud of her accomplishments this season and excited to see how she continues to grow as a player!"

A long-awaited All-Conference recognition for Schmidtke, the six-foot Albany native jumped into an elevated role within Coach McLain's starting lineup this year for the first time in her career to lead the program in kill percentage at .335, representing the third-highest conversion rate in the CCC and second-best among middle blockers. She has set new career records for herself in blocks (89), kills (170), kills per set (1.72), and points (219.5) to complete one of the NAIA's most spectacular middle blocking duos positioned alongside Reid.

"Jadah's recognition is a well-deserved accolade for her hard work and commitment throughout the season," shared Coach McLain on her second middle blocker to earn all-conference honors in a single season. "She has consistently demonstrated her ability to contribute both offensively and defensively, proving to be a vital asset to our team. I am incredibly proud of her growth and determination, and I look forward to seeing her continue to develop her skills and make an impact in the future."

This upcoming Friday, the No. 8-ranked Warriors will represent the second-overall seed in the 2024 CCC Tournament, where they'll kick off the semifinal stage against an opponent yet to be determined in Quinn Coliseum, hosted by No. 6-ranked Eastern Oregon University. Their opponent could be one of any of the four quarterfinal teams, comprised of No. 7-ranked Southern Oregon University, No. 22-ranked College of Idaho, RV Bushnell University, and Oregon Tech.
