SALEM, Ore. – For the first time in the 2025 fall season, the No. 8-ranked Corban University Women's Volleyball program has earned a Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) Under Armour Team of the Week accolade after clinching two of their biggest wins of the year this past weekend on Tim Hills Court in front of the Warrior Nation faithful to keep pace in the regular season championship standings as they enter the final three weeks of conference play.
"Being named the Team of the Week from the CCC is an honor, especially in such a tough conference that pushes us to be our best," explained Warriors' head coach Kim McLain. "My team has shown intentional effort every day, working hard to improve both on and off the court. I'm so proud of their growth and commitment. We'll keep striving to get better, stay consistent, and support one another. We look forward to continuing the journey that God has in store for us!"
The Warriors (17-4, 11-3) picked a pair of massive victories at the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center over this past Friday and Saturday against a pair of nationally ranked opponents in No. 1-ranked Eastern Oregon University and No. 19-ranked College of Idaho. In mid-September, Corban women's volleyball suffered a pair of four-set losses on the road to the Mountaineers and Yotes for their first CCC losses of the year but were able to return the favor on their home court to earn the distinct conference-wide honor.
Friday night represented the Game of the Year across the NAIA, as the Navy and Gold handed the top ranked Mounties their first loss of the year in a hard-fought four sets, staving off multiple set points in the fourth to prevent a winner-take-all fifth set and instead defeat EOU for the first time since the 2022 fall season. The following evening, a scrappy Yotes squad quickly ended the Warriors' high with a 25-22 first set win, yet Corban women's volleyball retaliated with three-straight set wins to down C of I and clinch the 2-0 sweep against one of the most difficult weekend pairings the CCC has to offer.
A trio of upperclassmen powered the Warriors to their NAIA top 20 victories this weekend and helped secure the 260th win of Coach McLain's Corban tenure, making her the winningest head coach in program history. Junior outside hitter Emma Bischoff and senior opposite Makayla Roginski tallied 19 and 15 kills against EOU and C of I, respectively, to lead the offensive scheme.
Senior setter Abby Guindy secured her fourth and fifth double-double outings of the season in both contests as Corban's starting distributor on offense, while junior libero Kaile'a Ontai racked up 47 digs across eight sets for an impressive 5.88 digs per set average. Ontai is now tied for the CCC lead in digs per set with Oregon Tech's Abigail Sorensen in significantly less sets played than the Lady Owls.
On Friday, October 24th, the Warriors will play their first of four-straight road matches when they travel to Olympia, Washington to close out their season series with The Evergreen State College (1-17, 1-13).
