No. 2 Warriors Silence No. 10 Yotes in Corban Beach Volleyball Conference Opener

EUGENE, Ore. – Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) play kicked off today at Grace Beach Courts, the home site of Bushnell University beach volleyball, where the No. 2-ranked Corban University Beach Volleyball program opened with an impressive 4-1 dual win over No. 10-ranked College of Idaho to hand the Yotes their first loss of the 2025 spring season.

"We had some great beach volleyball weather today down in Eugene and we faced tough competition," began Corban head coach Dan Stephens. "College of Idaho is a tough team who fought hard, and they will continue to be a hurdle for our team as the season progresses. We had some nerves today and it showed in our play, but everyone kept pushing and competing and it paid off. We want to keep adding more strategies so that we are hard to predict, which is our goal moving forward this season."

In their first top ten showdown of the 2025 season, the Warriors (3-1, 1-0) left no doubt in their top four pairings with four-consecutive sweeps to start the dual, with the only loss on the day coming in a three-setter within the fives where the Yotes (1-1, 1-1) managed to salvage a pair win and prevent a 5-0 sweep at the hands of the Navy and Gold.

Junior Alexis Adebodun and freshman Gabi Engels kicked off the dual with 21-16 and 21-12 victories over C of I's Faith Faucher and Maya Blake at the fours, followed by sophomores Danae Stokes and Cammie Masanda's first pair win of the year in the twos via straight set wins to provide the Warriors with an early 2-0 dual lead.

In the second round of pairs played out, Jessica McMillian and junior Emmi Marks made quick work of their Yote opponents in the third-overall pairing via 21-10 and 21-12 over College of Idaho's Ellie Baker and Liza Montalbo to secure the dual win before the top overall pairing of senior Megan Dennis and sophomore Emma Bischoff concluded the Corban pair wins with 21-16 and 21-15 set scores over the Yotes' top pair of Haley Hoopes and Sydney Dews.
