Saturday Sweep of Eagles Keeps No. 2 Warriors Perfect in Conference Play

EUGENE, Ore. – The No. 2-nationally ranked Corban University Beach Volleyball program wrapped up a perfect weekend in Eugene at the first Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) tournament of the season, hosted by Bushnell University at the Grace Beach Courts, securing a 5-0 sweep over Northwest University to stay undefeated in conference action.

"Today was a good growth day for our team," explained Corban head coach Dan Stephens explained. "There are some specific areas of focus we are working on, and we made improvements throughout our match against Northwest today. This is going to be a tough conference schedule, and this next week we will be facing some tough matchups. We will work hard at practice this week to be ready for the battle. It was great to see both Northwest and Corban's players praying after each match and to see the officials joining in was amazing as well."

It was all Warriors (4-1, 2-0) today in their first matchup of the season against the Eagles (2-2, 2-2), as Corban took all five pairings and dominated the top four pairs in straight-set sweeps. The biggest win of the day for the Navy and Gold came in the sixth exhibition pair that didn't count towards the dual results yet saw redshirt junior Sydney Sanford and sophomore Jordan Faircloth allow only 12 points the entire match including a 21-3 second set victory to lock up the pair decision.

The lone pair to go the distance and a full three sets was in the fifth overall pairing, where redshirt sophomore Erin Scott and freshman Maddox Snider picked an extra-point victory 22-20 before dropping a 21-16 second set to Northwest's Ava Hoy and Kali Dransfeldt. However, Scott and Snider bounced back with a convincing 15-8 third set to complete the sweep for Corban beach volleyball.
