BANDON, Ore. – After defeating the tourney hosts in the quarterfinal round to start yesterday's Bandon Crossings Collegiate Match Play tourney, the Corban University Men's Golf team suffered a 3.5-0.5 loss to the Southern Oregon University Raiders in the tournament semifinal stage, pushing the Warriors to the consolation bracket in the final day of play tomorrow on the south coast of Oregon.
"Today was a tough loss but give all the credit to SOU as they played some amazing golf," explained Corban assistant coach Evan Inglesby. "The weather was truly a treat, 55 degrees and sunny with a little bit wind. We're looking forward to the third-place match tomorrow vs Simpson!"
The Warriors' lone half-point scored in today's match play setup with Southern Oregon was by junior Brayden Sparkman and freshman Riley Quillin against Raiders' James Bushmiaer and Sam Havens, as they split all 18 holes played to salvage a score in today's competition. SOU took the remaining pairs for the 3.5-0.5 lead, which developed in the following results:
Ty Beyer/Riley Kirk (SOU) defeated Max McDonough/Andrew Classen (CRB) 2-Up;
Mason Labow/Ryder Jacox (SOU) defeated David Harvey/Brock Nelson (CRB) 2 & 1
Ricky Reisner/Oliver Ausland (SOU) defeated Andy Austen/Owen Heath (CRB) 4 & 3
With Simpson University falling to Lewis-Clark State College in their own semifinal match, the Warriors will now battle the Red Hawks in a 3rd-4th place consolation matchup tomorrow in the final round of Bandon Crossings Collegiate Match Play.
