Doubleheader Sweeps Over Bushnell Extend Conference Lead for No. 2 Corban Beach Volleyball

SALEM, Ore. – It was all Warriors today in the No. 2-ranked Corban University Beach Volleyball team's dominant pair of 5-0 sweeps over their I-5 rivals in Bushnell University, as they took 24 of the 25 sets played at the Grace Beach Courts to earn their eighth and ninth wins of the regular season and stay perfect in Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) play.

"We got to play a doubleheader today against Bushnell which is a program we are pretty close with as far as comradery," explained Corban head coach Dan Stephens. "They showed some really good ball control and served us tough, so we had to do more than just trying to overpower them. This was another good learning day, and it showed us some things we need to focus on over the next ten days before we compete next in Seattle."

Dual 1 – #2 Corban 5, Bushnell 0

Allowing just 17 points in the opening dual, No. 2-overall pairing of sophomores Cammie Masanda and Danae Stokes powered the Warriors (9-1, 7-0) to their 5-0 sweep in rapid fashion, with fourth-pairing of junior Alexis Adebodun and freshman Gabi Engels surrendering the first set to Beacons' Laci Jespersen and Sydney Myhre 21-18 before bouncing back with 21-15 and 15-8 second and third set scores to pick up an early 2-0 pair lead for Corban over Bushnell (2-6, 2-6).

A 21-13 first set victory for Corban's top pairing of senior Megan Dennis and sophomore Emma Bischoff was followed up by a dominating 21-5 result over Bushnell's Olivia Kelzenberg and Jazmyn Wilcox, securing the third and final pair needed to win their first matchup of the season with the Beacons. In the fifth pairs, redshirt juniors Erin Scott and Payton Bazant kept their winning streak alive with 21-14 and 21-12 set scores. Finally, the reigning CCC Pair of the Week consisting of senior Jessica McMillian and junior Emmi Marks made quick work of their Beacon counterparts to lock up the first of two 5-0 pair sweeps.

Dual 2 – #2 Corban 5, Bushnell 0

All five pairs for both the Warriors and Beacons remained the same going into the second dual, with the exception of the exhibition sixth pairs that did not count towards the dual results, which Corban won both of in straight sets. The Navy and Gold were in even more control throughout the second dual compared to the opener, as they took every set played against the Beacons with seven of the ten ending by a margin of six points or more.

McMillian and Marks kept their feet on the gas pedal and picked up 21-6 and 21-9 set scores over Bushnell's Anessa Stotts and Hannah Brunston to represent the lowest point total allowed by any Warrior duo, as just 29 points in four sets played were charged against the conference's weekly award winners to help lead the Navy and Gold to a 7-0 record and climb even closer to their second-straight CCC regular season championship.

The No. 2 Warriors will enjoy their well-deserved bye weekend from conference action to rest up and prepare for their four-dual road trip on March 21st and 22nd in Seattle, as they'll battle the host Eagles of Northwest University (2-2, 2-2) and No. 10-ranked College of Idaho (2-1, 2-1) twice on each day, where they may even hold an opportunity to clinch the regular season title depending on results from across the conference.
