No. 2 Warriors Extend Winning Streak with Duplicate Match Scores Against Eagles, No. 10 Yotes

SEATTLE, Wash. – Battling the harsh Pacific Northwest rains throughout this afternoon was the No. 2-ranked Corban University Beach Volleyball team in the first of two weekend doubleheaders against tournament hosts Northwest University alongside No. 10-ranked College of Idaho, as they fought off both the weather and their Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) counterparts to post 4-1 dual victories against both the Eagles and Yotes. With just six matches remaining in conference play for the Warriors, their two wins today clinched the regular season series over both NU and C of I to hold the tiebreaker over every CCC program outside of Simpson University, who they still have two matchups scheduled with amid their 9-0 start to conference play in 2025.

"Today was a challenging day for us focus wise, and Northwest and College of Idaho came out and challenged us," shared Warriors' head coach Dan Stephens when asked to summarize the extremely wet Friday afternoon doubleheader. "Everyone was facing the same weather conditions, and we didn't handle those conditions as well as I had hoped. We will have another shot at the same teams tomorrow and we hope to make improvements."

Dual 1 – #2 Corban 4, Northwest 1

As per usual with their CCC matchups, the Warriors (11-1, 9-0) hopped out to an early 2-0 lead on the match scoreboard, thanks to victories in the fours and twos, with junior Alexis Adebodun and freshman Gabi Engels cruising to 21-5 and 21-12 set scores in the fourth-overall pairings. Sophomores Cammie Masanda and Danae Stokes shook off a first set loss to Eagles' Masa Spela Jarc and Aubree Dees to take 21-8 and 15-12 scores to clinch the second pair. In the exhibition pairing, redshirt sophomores Erin Scott and Payton Bazant handled their NU (3-6, 3-6) counterparts with ease, 21-7 and 21-12.

Needing just one pair to clinch the season series against Northwest, Corban's third pairing of senior Jessica McMillian and junior Emmi Marks continued their 2025 success with 21-12 and 21-11 set scores versus Eagles' Kylie Rankin and Ellie Van Berkum to lock up the dual victory, followed by 21-10 and 21-13 scores in the fives in favor of Corban redshirt junior Sydney Sanford and sophomore Jordan Faircloth. In the top pairings, NU secured their only pair win of the day after Caitlyn James and Lylie Lunday completed a reverse sweep of Corban's senior Megan Dennis and sophomore Emma Bischoff, 17-21, 21-17, and 15-12.
