Corban Track & Field Secures Conference Qualifying, Top Ten Program Marks at Willamette Invite

SALEM, Ore. – With spring break in full effect across the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC), the Corban University Men's and Women's Track & Field programs sent a small contingency of Warriors to the Willamette Invite, hosted by NCAA DIII Willamette University, where they secured three more conference qualifiers and four top ten all-time marks across various events to continue their climb towards postseason competition.

"Due to spring break, we had a smaller group competing this weekend," explained Corban head coach Todd Bos when asked to detail his teams' performances throughout the day. "We still came away with three new conference qualifiers and four new top ten marks. The conference meet is quickly approaching, and we need to continue to train wisely and compete with our full focus. We have put in a lot of work this year and the next four weeks will determine how much that work has benefitted us. God has continually been teaching the team, sometimes through success, but mostly through challenges, and we hope to continue to compete in a way that honors Him."

Two of the Warriors' event winners from today's competition actually came in a completely different meet, as freshman Carrie Babcock ran in the women's 5,000m race at the Pacific Open and took the event by 40 seconds, logging an 18:15.95 to meet the CCC Championships qualification mark and etch the fourth best time in event history for the Navy and Gold.

On the men's side, freshman Bennet Mason clinched a win in the men's 5,000m race in Salem with a 15:30.39, which ranks eighth best all-time in the Corban record books, with teammate and sophomore Luke Harkey finishing second and taking the tenth all-time spot with a 15:36.24 overall. Joining the all-time top ten marks in program history as well was senior Will Maupin in the men's 100m sprint with a tenth-overall mark of 11.35 to represent a new personal best.

The final two conference qualifying marks for the Warriors came in the women's 400m hurdles and men's 200m sprint, as senior Kristi Hirte (1:10.64) and sophomore Benjamin Krebs (22.34) secured third and fourth place finishes, respectively, all while booking their tickets to the CCC Championships in May.

Corban track & field will be back in action next Saturday, April 5th at the Jenn Boyman Invite, hosted by NCAA DIII Linfield University at the Maxwell Field and Memorial Stadium in McMinnville.
