GREENWOOD, Ind. – Earlier this morning, the College Sports Communicators (CSC) organization announced the 2025 Academic All-District teams for collegiate baseball that covers all levels of the NCAA, NAIA, and junior college associations, where the Corban University Baseball program was honored with the maximum five recipients having earned the prestigious dual athletic and academic award that is bestowed on a yearly basis to squads across the country.

"I'm incredibly proud of these guys!" exclaimed Warriors' head coach Ryan Harris. "Their constant effort to pursue excellence in everything they do is something we care deeply about in our program. Having these guys recognized for their efforts is truly special and we look forward to continuing to add to the growing list of Corban CSC academic award winners in the future."
The CSC Academic All-America program is nominated and voted on by members of the CSC, which are the Sports Information Directors/Athletic Communication leaders from every NAIA institution. Each school's nominees must have met the following criteria to be eligible for the award: at least sophomore standing both athletically and academically; have maintained at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA; have participated in at least 90% or started in 66% of the team's scheduled counting contests for the regular season. For men' baseball specifically, pitchers are eligible if they made either at least 17 appearances or pitched at least 35.0 innings, while a maximum of five student-athletes may be submitted for consideration from each program.
Led by senior third baseman Ryan Clay who has received the Academic All-District accolade for a third-straight season to end his collegiate career, the quintet of Warriors consists of four first-time selections represented by redshirt junior pitcher Josephan Gonzalez, junior outfielder Chase Elliott, junior shortstop Isaac Bateman, and sophomore outfielder Lucas Mertlich. All five of this year's academic prestige recipients played in vital starting roles for Coach Harris and the Navy and Gold, with Elliott, Bateman, and Mertlich all set to return in the fall of 2025 and begin their training for the 2026 competitive spring season.
An NAIA-based selection committee consisting of members from the athletic communication departments across the country will now determine which of the All-District recipients will receive Academic All-American honors. Nominees will be sorted into groupings based on position they play on the field and will be considered for the scholarly All-American status with both athletic and academic success taken into consideration.
