CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) office has announced the McDonald's CCC Players of the Week, presented by Urban Edge Network, for the competitions held between September 8th to 14th, where the Corban University Women's Soccer program secured their first weekly award winner for the 2025 fall season. Junior goalkeeper Ava Hayes was named the Defensive Player of the Week for the conference following her dominant week in net, where she led the Warriors to a pair of non-conference victories.

"Ava was absolutely outstanding for us this past week," shared Warriors' head coach Brooke Alteneder regarding her third-year keeper. "Two shutouts in two big wins as we finished our non-conference schedule was massive for us. She's had really well-rounded performances, came up big when we needed her, and brought a calm presence in the backfield. Her confidence out of the air has been huge for us, and she's been sharp with her distribution too. I couldn't be happier for her, as she's earned every bit of this recognition."
In the Navy and Gold's pair of wins against fellow NAIA member Simpson University and NCAA DIII Pacific Lutheran University, Hayes pitched back-to-back fulltime shutouts in goal to earn this week's conference honor, swatting away five shots in both matches while her offense managed to score a single goal in each to provide her with win numbers two and three on the year.
With five complete matches now in the books, Hayes leads the entire CCC in save percentage at .857 overall, allowing just five goals in total for a 1.00 goals-against-average. In addition, Hayes has a pair of shutouts on the year after this week and is tied for the conference lead in saves with 30 in total.
Hayes and the Corban women's soccer team will start the 2025 CCC slate on the road over the next two weekends, beginning with their furthest trip of the year all the way in Great Falls, Montana. Kickoff against the University of Providence (0-2-1, 0-0-0) is scheduled for 1pm MT/12pm PT.
