Warrior Women’s Long Distance Crew Competes at Portland Indoor One

PORTLAND, Ore. – Nine members of the Corban University Women's Track & Field program took to the indoor track today in northern Oregon, as the long distance crew competed in just four events to kick off their competitive season at the Portland Indoor One within the Chiles Center.

"Today was an enjoyable day to open up the middle distance squad's competitive season," explained Warriors' associate head coach Stuart Eagon. "The track at UP is a little slow, but it's a very fun place to run. We really enjoy competing there and the camaraderie we have with other teams. I'm pleased with how all of the ladies did today; it's really awesome to have three ladies all win their own heats in the 600m. Carrie and Shaelee also did phenomenal in their first 800m of the year, and the 4x400m races were a blast. Overall, a very fun Sunday meet."

A pair of top 100 marks within the NAIA scope were set today by Warrior student-athletes, the first represented by sophomore Josie Rothman within the 600m race. Rothman placed 9th among the 28-woman field, finishing with a 1:44.63 for the 88th best time in nation thus far.

The women's 4x400m relay race set the new 63rd best time across the NAIA, which was legged by freshman Amelia Anstrand, sophomore Carrie Babcock, freshman Anna Dixon, and redshirt sophomore Shannel Killorn. Junior Shaelee Killorn led off the first leg of their second 4x400m relay team, which finished five seconds behind the first team and also consisted of sophomore Grace Dawkins, redshirt freshman Myana Stock, and Rothman.

Also competing today for the Navy and Gold was freshman Adaline McDowell in the women's 1-mile race (27th – 5:49.12), while Shaelee Killorn finished 2:27.91 in the 800m at 5th overall and Babcock less than two seconds behind her in 8th (2:29.67). Shannel Killorn placed 10th in the 600m just a second off Rothman, followed by Dixon (12th – 1:48.47), and Anstrand (13th – 1:48.85).

The Warrior women's track & field program will join the men's program in Seattle, Washington next weekend at the UW Invite/Mile City, hosted by NCAA DI University of Washington at the Dempsey Indoor Center. Events begin at 10am on both Friday and Saturday.
