CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) office announced the 2027 Baseball Coaches' Preseason Poll on Wednesday morning, with the Corban University baseball team earning a seventh-place selection among the conference's eight baseball programs entering the upcoming campaign.
"We're looking forward to the 2027 baseball season," shared Warriors' head coach Ryan Harris. "Our culture is solidified, our coaching staff grew in numbers and experience, and I can't say enough good things about our players and the brotherhood that they have created. We are in a great conference and we have done better each year, but this year's group sets their own standards and expectations, and now have the vision and plan in front of them that they're ready to execute."
The Warriors earned 18 total points in the preseason voting, finishing ahead of Warner Pacific University in a conference that once again projects to be among the NAIA's most competitive baseball leagues. Lewis-Clark State College secured the top position with 62 points and six first-place votes, while the University of British Columbia received the remaining two first-place votes and landed second overall.
Corban enters the 2027 campaign looking to build upon valuable experience gained during the 2026 season under Harris and his staff. The Warriors finished 17-33 overall and 13-24 in conference play, placing sixth in the final CCC standings against a league that featured multiple nationally ranked programs and three teams with at least 29 overall victories.
Despite the final record, the Warriors showcased their ability to compete with some of the conference's top programs throughout the season. Corban captured series victories over both Oregon Tech and Eastern Oregon University, while also earning conference wins against postseason qualifiers College of Idaho and University of British Columbia.
Several student-athletes turned in standout seasons for the Navy and Gold in 2026. Senior outfielder Lucas Mertlich earned First Team All-Conference honors after leading the Warriors with seven home runs, 40 RBIs, and a .305 batting average, while helping anchor one of the conference's most dynamic base-running units. Corban also had five student-athletes recognized as CSC Academic All-District selections and earned the conference's Team Sportsmanship Award for the second consecutive season.
The gap between the middle and lower portions of the poll illustrates the competitiveness expected throughout the league this spring. Just 30 points separate third-place College of Idaho (43) and eighth-place Warner Pac (13), leaving plenty of room for movement once conference play begins. Bushnell University (42) secured the fourth-place position, followed by Oregon Tech (33), Eastern Oregon University (19), and the Warriors and Knights.
