SALEM, Ore. – The Corban University Men's and Women's Track & Field programs hosted their second annual Corban Indoor meet at the Outdoor Athletic Complex (OAC), where four Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) members attempted to clear indoor marks on an outdoor facility despite the Pacific Northwest winter weather rearing its ugly head with plenty of precipitation, chilled temperatures, and wind gusts that still couldn't stop twelve Warriors from hitting personal best marks.

"Meets in February in western Oregon always come with a weather risk and today was no exception," began Corban head coach Todd Bos when asked to discuss today's results on the Warriors' home track. "Yet, while the weather wasn't ideal, it was good enough to host the meet and give or student-athletes a chance to compete. Even with cool, wet, and breezy conditions, we had many excellent marks. Our indoor record books continue to be improved and expanded on."
Bos continued discussing today's outcomes at the OAC by sharing, "Instead of focusing on individual performances, I want to note the continued improvement in all the event groups. God has brought highly effective coaches to Corban, and judging from today's performances, the jumps, throws, distance, and sprint crews keep getting better by the week. I'm very pleased with the effort and attitude of this team. They are working hard to represent both Christ and Corban well, and we are looking forward to competing in warm, dry conditions next week as we look to build on today's performances."
The lone national standard hit on the day for the Corban track & field programs belonged to redshirt senior Kayla Morgan, as the prolific high jumper cleared the 1.69m mark to book yet another trip to the NAIA National Championships next month in Gainesville, Florida. Morgan holds the school record in the women's high jump for the both the indoor and outdoor events and will look to complete a three-peat as conference champion during the outdoor slate later this spring.
Of the twelve Warriors to hit new personal best marks in today's meet, half submitted new top 100 marks within the NAIA national scene, with Morgan's national A-standard not representing a personal best but still earning the ninth best mark across the country to date. Junior Kirsten Kuenzi broke her program record in the women's 60m with a 7.90 final time today, while sophomore Aaden Ackley shaved off nearly half of a second from his own 60m hurdles record with an 8.58 time this afternoon.
Joining Morgan in the jump crew members to hit personal best and win their events today was true freshman Ava Barnett and her 5.34m leap to break her own program record she set in her collegiate debut. Finally, junior Oliver Reis once again hit a national B-standard to win the men's long jump, with newcomer freshman Ethan Medyanik turning heads in the men's high and long jumps, the former of which he won with a jump of 1.90m, which sets a new indoor program record.
From the distance crews, junior Jack Gladfelter and sophomore Carrie Babcock hit personal best times in the 3,000m races, with Gladfelter just a few steps off the qualifying B-standard for the national indoor championship meet while Babcock continues to creep closer to her own qualifying mark. The 800m races were locked down by juniors Braydon Lee and Shaelee Killorn, with Lee just seconds behind the national qualifying standard as well.
Finally, the throwing events were powered by personal best tosses by sophomore Caleb Jannsen and junior Aden Dardis in the men's weight throw, as they each hit personal best marks of 12.94m and 12.55m to take second and fourth in the event, respectively.
Event winners today for the Navy and Gold up against competitors from Oregon Tech, The Evergreen State College, and Warner Pacific University include: Kuenzi (women's 60m), Ackley (men's 60m hurdles) Lee (men's 800m), Killorn (women's 800m), Gladfelter (men's 3,000m), Medyanik (men's high jump), Morgan (women's high jump), Reis (men's long jump), Barnett (women's long jump), freshman Emma Adams (women's pole vault), junior Karch Kipp (men's shot put), and freshman Lemuel Foska (men's triple jump).
The Warrior men's and women's track teams will be split between two Washington locations next weekend, as they'll participate in both the Whitworth Invitational in Spokane and the Husky Classic in Seattle, with start times varying between early afternoon and morning sessions. NCAA DIII Whitworth University will host their invitational at The Podium, while NCAA DI University of Washington hosts their third indoor meet of the season at the infamous Dempsey Indoor Center.
