Morgan Clears A-Standard, Leads Nation Following Week One Opener at Rich Allen Classic

NEWBERG, Ore. – Another nine Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) qualifying marks were met today by the Corban University Men's and Women's Track & Field teams at the 2026 Rich Allen Classic, hosted by NCAA DIII George Fox University at Stoffer Family Stadium on the Bruins' campus. In addition to the conference qualifiers, redshirt senior Kayla Morgan needed just two attempts to set the highest mark across the country through week one of the women's outdoor high jump and qualify for her sixth-career NAIA National Championships.

"Another outdoor meet with an abbreviated team but with solid results nonetheless," expressed Warriors' head coach Todd Bos earlier today. "Many conference qualifiers along with Kayla hitting a very good national mark. We are looking forward to having the entire team together for the dual against Willamette this upcoming week. Willamette has really improved these past few years, and we will have our work cut out for us. As always, we praise God for His faithful care of our student-athletes."

Morgan's 1.73m leap was the highlight of the day for both programs, as she cleared opening height and the next two on her way to a first-place finish in the event to clinch the national A-standard, besting the runner-up finisher by over four inches. Her mark is still 0.05 meters away from her all-time career best of 1.78m, but the outdoor season has only just begun for the fifth year from Sisters competing in her final collegiate season.

The Navy and Gold student-athletes earning CCC qualifying marks today include: senior DJ Armstead (men's 100m – 11.01 & men's 200m – 22.37), freshman Kayla Krueger (women's high jump – 1.47m & women's pole vault – 2.68m), freshman Ava Barnett (women's long jump – 5.40m), freshman Lemuel Foska (men's triple jump – 12.31m), junior Jackson Cook (men's triple jump – 12.08m), and sophomore Julianna Bell (women's triple jump – 9.90m). Additionally, both Barnett and Krueger set new top ten marks for the women's long jump and pole vault in program history for the third and eighth all-time best marks, respectively, while freshman long jumper Ethan Medyanik moved into fifth place all alone behind his 6.56m jump today that earned him a second place finish among the 21-man field.

Corban track & field will participate in their annual crosstown dual with NCAA DIII Willamette University starting on Tuesday, March 17th and run through Thursday the 19th with action occurring at both the Warriors and Bearcats' home facilities.
