Nationally Ranked Lewis-Clark State Completes Four-Game Sweep of Corban Baseball

LEWISTON, Idaho – The Cascade Collegiate Conference's top-ranked squad flexed both their offensive and defensive prowess today at Harris Field, as No. 7-ranked Lewis-Clark State College dominated games three and four via 11-1 and 11-0 final scores to complete the weekend sweep of Corban University Baseball. With this weekend's results, the Navy and Gold fall back to fifth in the CCC standings with 20 contests remaining on their regular season schedule.

"This was a tough series for us where we didn't have our best efforts," shared Corban head coach Ryan Harris. "LC showed us some things we need to work on as a group. Nothing we can do now but pick ourselves up off the canvas and get back to work as we prepare for our Bushnell series."

Offense came at a premium today for the visiting Warriors (11-19, 7-11), as they managed just one unearned run in 14 innings thanks to dominant pitching from Lewis-Clark State's (22-3, 14-3) staff and the bat of one student-athlete. LC State designated hitter Jackson Jaha continued his tear through the Dubs' bullpen with another five hits, six runs, six RBI, and a three-homer game in today's opener. Three more hometown hitters secured multi-hit outings in either game three or four of the series to pace LCSC's 22-run offense. Over the weekend, LC State's lineup scored 48 total runs.

The lone Corban pitcher to not yield a run this afternoon was senior right-hander Jackson Young, who tossed the final 2.0 frames of game two and allowed just a single baserunner while striking out a pair. All four starting pitchers this weekend for the Navy and Gold were charged with losses towards their overall records and LC State's first three starters earned wins, while the game four winner was represented by LCSC's reliever Jackson Cloud who tossed 3.0 innings of two-hit ball.

The Dubs' senior first baseman Peyton Rickard was the highlight of the Corban offense today, collecting four base hits that included a 3-for-4 performance in game two. Though their offense held plenty of opportunities to score more than one run, Lewis-Clark State's pitching abandoned 18 Corban baserunners through their two contests today at Harris Field.

Corban baseball will take the spring break off from classes to prepare for their I-5 rivalry series with Bushnell University (15-15, 7-10), where the Warriors will serve as the home team on the Beacons' home field due to scheduling conflicts at Roto-Rooter Park. The series will begin on Friday, March 27th with their first doubleheader games set for 2pm & 5pm start times.
