"For Corban University to be awarded the second most Academic All-Conference honors this spring season is not only a testament to the hard work our student-athletes put in academically, but also a reflection of both their professors and coaches for providing them with the resources they need to succeed within the Cascade Collegiate Conference," explained Warriors' assistant athletic director Clayton Messerle. "This represents three-consecutive years that our spring sports have raised the bar and earned even more individual academic awards, and we can't wait to see what they accomplish next both in the classroom and on their respective playing surface."
To earn recognition as a CCC Academic All-Conference member, a student-athlete must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2, have attended their current institution for at least one complete academic year, and be of at least sophomore standing academically within their institution at the time of nomination. Varsity sports within the conference that are eligible for this distinction in the spring season include baseball, beach volleyball, softball, men's and women's golf, and men's and women's track & field.
The Navy and Gold baseball program led all spring sports in terms of sheer quantity with 23 total award winners in today's academic announcement by the CCC, with women's track & field right behind them with an even 20 student-athletes. Both beach volleyball and men's track & field tied with 15 selections, followed by softball (14), men's golf (3), and women's golf (1).
Corban University had the second most student-athletes among the fourteen CCC members of both full-time and associate membership status who had at least one award winner today, trailing only The College of Idaho (109) across the entire Pacific Northwest. Following behind the Warriors in the CCC academic ranks was Bushnell University (75), Eastern Oregon University (73), Oregon Tech (57), Lewis-Clark State College (53), Southern Oregon University (40), the University of British Columbia (37), Warner Pacific University (26), Northwest University (20), Trinity Western University (14), Simpson University (12), The Evergreen State College (10), and Walla Walla University (6).
