Lee Qualifies for Friday Finals, Salisbury Competes in Men’s Javelin, Gladfelter’s 10K Rained Out on Day One of NAIA National Meet

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The east coast weather started the 2026 NAIA National Outdoor Track & Field Championships undefeated on the campus of NCAA DII University of North Carolina Asheville, as the three-day tourney was cut short due to continuous thunderstorms that pushed the event of one of the three Warriors in attendance from the Corban University Track & Field programs to tomorrow's schedule.

"Braydon ran a very controlled, smart race in today's prelims to make the event finals," began Corban head coach Todd Bos. "He has set himself up well to try and earn All-American status on Friday. Anthony had a good day and would have needed a pretty decent PR to make the top eight. His contributions to our program go well beyond his athletic performance. It was an honor to have him throw for Corban at the national meet. We are always grateful to God for the opportunity to compete at this level."

As the first member of the Navy and Gold to compete this championship season in his first ever appearance at the national meet, redshirt junior Anthony Salisbury tossed a 54.71m throw in the men's javelin on his first attempt and concluded his final year of eligibility in 24th overall following the two heats of the nation's best hurlers.

Shortly after Salisbury's national championship meet finish, the Dubs saw junior Braydon Lee qualify for the finals heat of the men's 1,500m event thanks to a fifth place finish in his preliminary heat that represented the fifth best overall time among both of the ten-men heats. Clocking a 3:53.56 allowed him to claim one of the four top qualifier times remaining following each heat, and with a similar performance this upcoming Friday, he'll earn the second All-American honor of his career.

In what was scheduled to be the final event of the opening day, junior Jack Gladfelter will have to wait one more day to compete for a national title in the men's 10,000m race, as the incoming North Carolina spring storm resulted in four events moving to tomorrow's schedule. Entering the national championship race with the top entry time, Gladfelter will expect to contend for his first individual national title at 4:35pm PT.

In addition to Gladfelter, sophomore Oliver Reis will make his outdoor championship debut tomorrow morning at 9am PT, looking to earn a second-straight NAIA All-American accolade in the men's long jump following his successful indoor season run.
