Reis, Gladfelter Secure Conference Titles on Day One of CCC Championships for Warrior Track and Field

LA GRANDE, Ore. – A pair of unprecedented come-from-behind efforts combined with a dominant performance from a pre-meet favorite represented the highs of day one for the Corban University Men's and Women's Track & Field programs at the 2026 Cascade Collegiate Conference Championships, as the Warriors claimed two individual crowns and three All-Conference awards to finish day one with 33 team points on the men's side and 15 on the women's leaderboard.

"We had an excellent day one capped by Oliver and Jack's conference championships," shared Warriors' head coach Todd Bos. "We had so many of our student-athletes right at or above their personal best marks. We praise the Lord for that and kudos to all the event coaches for preparing them so well. We have another big day ahead of us tomorrow and pray for similar results like the ones we had today. This group has been a joy to coach, and tomorrow will be bittersweet as some very special student-athletes will wear the Corban uniform one last time."

Within the team standings, the Warriors are currently sitting at seventh place on the men's leaderboard and eighth on the women's side, with the host Mountaineers of Eastern Oregon University and their CCC rival Yotes from The College of Idaho battling atop both team standings for the team titles. Both Corban programs lead Bushnell University, Northwest University, and The Evergreen State College, while the men also lead Southern Oregon University following day one action in La Grande.

The first individual conference title of the weekend for the Navy and Gold was claimed by sophomore Oliver Reis, who once again stunned his competition just as he did during his indoor season All-American finish. Trailing the men's long jump leader, Kaleo Wellman of Bushnell, on his last attempt of the final round, Reis soared to a personal best 7.50m mark to crush the NAIA National A-Standard while flipping a runner-up medal into his first conference championship as a Warrior. His leap today was a top ten jump performed by an NAIA student-athlete to date in 2026 and provides him with an opportunity to defend his All-American title later this month. Joining Reis on the team placement podium for the men's long jump was true freshman Ethan Medyanik, who broke his own personal record with a 7.07m leap on his final attempt to claim fourth place across the conference.

Shortly after Reis' unparalleled comeback run, redshirt junior Abigail Oosterhout held steady for ten splits before making her move in the women's 10,000m race, overcoming Lewis-Clark State College's Lily Bennett for third place and simultaneously, an All-Conference finish with a final time of 39:51.92 after entering the event as the seventh-overall seeded runner. This marks the second All-Conference award for Oosterhout this school year, as she was also an honoree in the fall cross country season.

Oosterhout was followed by junior Jack Gladfelter's 10K title of his own, as the Port Angeles native entered the event as the favorite to claim his first CCC championship with over a minute better personal best than the next fastest qualifier. While he didn't break his PR at Community Stadium this afternoon, he did finish nearly 20 seconds faster than the next finisher from C of I, as his 31:56.61 time clinched a second conference title of the weekend for the Dubs.

Earning crucial team points for the Warriors throughout today's day one action also includes: sophomore Aaden Ackley (men's 110m hurdles – 15.05 | fourth place), senior DJ Armstead (men's 400m – 49.83 | eighth place), graduate student Zander Moha (men's 3,000m steeplechase – 9:50.64 | eighth place), freshman Ava Barnett (women's long jump – 5.51m | sixth place), freshman Kayla Krueger (women's pole vault – 3.08m | eighth place), junior Karch Kipp (men's shot put – 13.62m | eighth place), and the women's 4x100m relay team that placed fourth with a time of 49.08 and comprised of freshman Julia Duncan, Barnett, freshman Ella Grubbs, and junior Kirsten Kuenzi.

Tomorrow at 10:30am, day two of the 2026 CCC Championships will begin with the men's discus, men's triple jump, and women's high jump events. Track events are scheduled to begin at 1:30pm with the women's 100m. Live results will once again be made available by AthleticTiming by clicking HERE.
