Braun and Bombers Lead Warriors to Sweep Over Bruins of Bethany

BOX SCORES – GAME #1 | GAME #2

SCOTT VALLEY, Calif.
– Senior Jason Braun (Dallas, Ore.) picked up his second save this season before pitching seven strong inning en route to securing his first win in 2009, as Corban's baseball team swept the Bruins of Bethany, 7-6 & 8-2, Friday morning at Valley Christian High School.

According to third-year head coach Nate Mayben, the Warriors had a four-run lead (7-3) heading into the game's final at-bat.  Despite an attempted comeback by Bethany, senior Derek Stokes (Anchorage, Alaska) was one out away from a complete game pitching the opening 6.2 innings before giving way to Braun for the game's final out.  Stokes mastery on the mound was aided by a trio of home runs by senior Russ Johnston (Independence, Ore.), junior Josh Warner (Independence, Ore.), and sophomore Taylor Stiles (Santa Maria, Calif.).

In the second game, Braun pitched the opening seven innings before turning the ball over to sophomore reliever Kyle Lamson (Medford, Ore.) for the final two innings.  The pitching duo was aided offensively by another three home runs by Johnston, senior Craig Spicer (Vancouver, Wash.), and freshman Steven Blum (Salem, Ore.).

More information to follow once official statistics are received from Bethany's athletic department.
