BOX SCORE

SALEM, Ore. – Junior Chelsea Schriber, senior Emma Winckler, and junior Amy Greenough combined to shutout NCAA Division III member Lewis & Clark, while junior Stephanie Nippert went 3-for-4 with three runs scored in a 7-0 victory for Corban's softball team over the visiting Pioneers Thursday on Warrior Field.

With today's win, Corban improves to 15-3 on the season and Lewis & Clark drops its 11th straight game to start the year.

Nippert was the only Warrior to record more than one hit, as five other Corban players – junior Brittany Chestnut, junior Erica Fitzgerald, junior Chynna Sandhop, and sophomore Lounette Jackson – registered hits on the afternoon. Jackson was a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs batted in, while junior Rachel Conard, Nippert, and Sandhop drove in the other Warrior runs.

Corban would open the game by scoring four runs in the bottom of the first inning when Chestnut led off with a single through the left side before Nippert reached one batter later on a dropped fly ball to center field. Both runners would move up sixty feet via a stolen base before Jackson ripped a single to center field that brought both runners home for an early 2-0 Corban lead. Conard would come to the plate next and she would reach on the second error of the inning by the Pioneers to drive home Jackson making the score 3-0 in favor of the home team. During the next at-bat, Conard would advanced to third on a wild pitch and came home on a Sandhop single through the left side one batter later pushing the Warriors' lead to four runs (4-0) after one inning of play.

In the bottom of the second inning, Corban added another run to the scoreboard when Nippert belted a double to center field before moving to third when Jackson was hit by a pitch to load the bases with two outs. The very next batter – Conard – would be the second straight Warrior to be hit by a pitch allowing Nippert to come home for a five-run Warrior lead (5-0).

Two innings later, Corban put its sixth run on the board when Nippert led off with a triple to right field before coming home on a wild pitch one batter later for a 6-0 Warrior lead through four innings of play.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, Corban capped its scoring when junior Liane DeHart double through the left side with two outs before coming home on Nippert's second double of the afternoon en route to earning the 7-0 victory.

Schriber went the opening 3.0 innings for Corban allowing just one hits to go along with a game-high tying three strikeouts en route to picking up her fifth victory of the season. Winckler would pitch the next three innings for the Warriors with a game-high tying three K's, while Greenough pitched a near perfect seventh inning allowing just one hit over the game's final three outs.

Lewis & Clark would get hits from three different players – Ari Wilks, Cailtin Relyea, and Taylor Gatti – with three different pitchers making an appearance in the game. Natalie Rose went the opening 2.0 innings allowing five runs (one earned) on four hits en route to suffering the loss, while Hallie Knife went 3.0 innings allowing two earned runs on four hits before Madison Hollenbeck recorded the final three outs for the Pioneers.

Corban will return to action on Tuesday, March 13th, against NCAA Division II member Saint Martin's in an afternoon double header beginning at 2:00 p.m. in Lacey, Washington.
