Warriors-Geoducks Battle to Second Straight Scoreless Tie

BOX SCORE

OLYMPIA, Wash. – For the second time this season, the NAIA's No. 25-ranked Corban's men's soccer team battled the Geoducks of The Evergreen State College to a scoreless tie in double overtime Tuesday at Evergreen Pitch.

Corban (9-0-2, 6-0-2 CCC) and Evergreen (4-5-3, 2-4-2 CCC) played back-to-back scoreless games this season, as the Geoducks are the only team to keep the Warriors off the scoreboard this year.

Over the past four games, Corban has not scored a goal against Evergreen in the last 358 minutes and three seconds dating back to a goal at the 47:57 mark on September 19, 2012.

"The guys played very hard under challenging circumstances, as they battled throughout against a very talented and defensive-minded Evergreen team," said head coach Aaron Lewis. "We are happy moving forward and keeping another team without a goal, as our focus now turns toward our next game."

In an evenly played game throughout, Corban registered one more shot (15-to-14) than Evergreen with the Warriors putting six shots on target compared to the Geoducks' five.

The first half would see Corban record six shots with three being on frame, while Evergreen tallied just two shots without either being on target.

In the second half, Corban would once again tally more shots (8-to-5) with the Warriors putting three on target versus the Geoducks' one. Evergreen's only shot on target came when Dyson Fowler unleashed a scoring chance at the 88:56 mark forcing freshman goalkeeper Jordan Farr to make his first save of the afternoon.

The extra periods would belong to Evergreen, as the host Geoducks recorded a 7-to-1 advantage in shots that included four in the final two minutes of the second overtime that forced Farr to record his final two saves of the game in order to preserve the second scoreless tie of his young career.

A very physical game would see a combined 28 fouls and eight yellow cards, as both teams were whistled for 14 fouls and issued four yellow cards each.

Farr registered a team-high five saves for Corban, as the first-year Warrior has allowed only one goal in over 833 minutes between the pipes this season. In the process, Farr also tied the program's single-season record with his seventh shutout this year equaling the performance of former Warrior Mike Patron during the 1994 and 1997 seasons.

For Evergreen, Collin Harlow tallied a game-high six saves en route to registering his fifth shutout of the season.

Corban returns to action on Saturday, October 19th, against rival Northwest Christian beginning at 5:00 p.m. at Mike Kelly Field in Springfield. The Warriors put their current 11-game unbeaten streak on the line against the Beacons, as Corban has won only once in the last three games on its rival's home turf.
