Jessica Holsinger had a strong complete-game effort, allowing just the one run on four hits while walking one and striking out five. The left-handed sophomore, who improved her record to 4-3, had a shutout until the bottom of the seventh before HIU finally broke through for its lone run.
The Warriors had only two base runners through the first four innings until finally scoring all four of their runs on four hits and three errors in the top of the fifth.
Lounette Jackson started a one-out rally with a single, and an ensuing error put runners on second and third.
Shelby Mauermann drove in the first run with a single, and another fielding error loaded the bases for
Aubrene Blas, who brought in the second run with a fielder's choice.
Kyrianna Sorensen hit a single through the middle of the infield to drive in the third run, and
Breonna Bejaran followed with another RBI base hit for the final run.
Corban managed just one more hit – Jackson's double in the sixth – but that proved to be enough with Holsinger in the circle.

Pitcher
Jessica Slate and No. 9 hitter
Taylor Eilders were the key players in Corban's second game victory.
Slate improved her record to 4-1 with a complete-game effort. She allowed two runs on eight hits while walking none and striking out three. Eilders, meanwhile, was 3-for-3 with a home run, one run scored and two driven in.
Hope International scored a run in the bottom of the first but the Warriors, who left two runners on base in the second, tied the game in the second when Eilders hit a leadoff homer over the left-center field fence in the third. For Eilders, who is hitting .382 this season, it was the first round-tripper of the 2014 campaign.
Both teams scored a run in the fourth inning – Corban getting its tally on a walk, sacrifice bunt and a two-out RBI single by Eilders – and the game went to the sixth inning still knotted at 2-2. The Warriors broke the tie when Jackson led off with a ground-rule double to right field, moved up a base on a ground out and then scored on
Danielle Ackerman's ground ball.
Slate escaped a jam in the sixth inning when centerfielder
Annie Owen threw out a runner at third base, and she retired the side in the seventh to wrap up the victory.
"Jess Holsinger and Jess Slate gave us a couple of great outings today in a couple of hard-fought games" head coach
Nathan Ohta said. "Both ladies came out and dominated, giving our offense the chances to grind out the runs we needed to win. I was really pleased with our execution offensively today.
"Sometimes we come out and put a lot of runs up, but playing our 10th game in five days, the girls were definitely tired. It was one of those days where we had to work for our runs and play smart to give ourselves chances to win. We did a great job of moving runners, getting bunts down, picking up clutch hits.
"We used a lot of different players today in some key situations and they really came through for us," Ohta added. "This was a great road trip, and I'm proud of the girls for going 7-3 against some very good competition. Closing out the trip with two wins is a great way to gain some momentum as we head into the start of conference play next weekend."
The Warriors get their Cascade Collegiate Conference schedule going at 2 p.m. next Friday with a doubleheader at Oregon Tech, that to be followed by a doubleheader at Southern Oregon starting at 11 a.m. Saturday.
