Corban Athletics Announces ‘Gold Out’ and Unveiling of Warrior Mascot: Cadmar

SALEM, Ore. – Corban University Director of Athletics, Greg Eide, announced on Wednesday afternoon that Corban's first-ever mascot, 'CADMAR', would be unveiled prior to the start of the men's basketball game against the No. 5 team in the nation, The College of Idaho, on January 16.  That evening will also be a special 'Gold Out' night, with the first 300 students in attendance receiving a free Gold Commemorative Corban Warrior t-shirt celebrating the Cadmar unveiling.

"We are really excited about the unveiling of our Warrior mascot, Cadmar, next Friday, January 16," stated Eide.  "Corban has not previously had a full-fledged, real life Warrior mascot like the Oregon Duck or Benny the Beaver, and we look forward to the beginning of a new tradition.  We engaged the company out of Utah that manufactures the majority of the Division I and Professional team mascots, and we hope to utilize Cadmar at select home athletic events, as well as local community events."

The Gold commemorative t-shirts will be handed out at 5 p.m. in the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center lobby prior to the start of the women's basketball game which is set for a 5:30 p.m. tipoff against C of I.  Cadmar will then be unveiled just prior to the start of the men's game vs. the Yotes, set for a 7:30 p.m. tipoff.

While the free commemorative Gold t-shirts will only be given to Corban students with an ID, Warrior fans are urged to wear as much Gold to the game in whatever form possible!  That could be a t-shirt, pair of jeans, socks, hat, sweatshirt, or even a Gold jacket!  The point is, wear as much Gold as possible and be as loud as possible in order to show your Warrior spirit!

The name for the mascot, 'Cadmar', was voted on by the Corban University student body in a "Name the Warrior Mascot" challenge in the fall of 2013.  The name, Cadmar, means "Brave Warrior".
