LA GRANDE, Ore. – The Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) office announced on Monday that Corban University junior center fielder Taylor Eilders (Cameron Park, Calif.) was named the CCC Red Lion® Softball Player of the Week for her efforts on the field in the six games played last week. For Eilders, it was her second CCC Player of the Week honor of the 2016 season.
"Taylor had a great week for us and came up with some key hits in our games this week," said Corban head coach Nathan Ohta. "She has established herself as one of the best players in the conference and one of the top leadoff hitters in the country."
Eilders led the Corban University softball team to a 5-1 record on the week, hitting .450 overall in the six games. While racking up nine hits, she totaled nine RBI, five runs scored, three doubles, and one home run. Her one home run came via a grand slam against Northwest University on Saturday. She now boasts a CCC-best 61 hits on the year and is hitting .424 overall during the 2016 campaign.
"She's having a player of the year caliber season and it is good to see her getting this type of recognition at the conference level," said Ohta. "But, at the end of the day, she's a great teammate, and it's her contributions to helping the team be the best we can be as one unit that make what she's doing this year something special."
