Warrior Women’s Hoops Looking to Make Noise in CCC Tournament

EUGENE, Ore. – The Corban University women's basketball team won a pivotal game last week on the road in upset fashion, clinching a spot in the 2018 Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) Tournament. The Warriors will look to do the same again on Tuesday evening in Eugene, trying to take down Northwest Christian University in the CCC Tourney quarterfinal.

Corban, as the No. 6 seed, will travel south to take on I-5 rival and No. 3-seeded NCU on Tuesday evening, slated for a 7 p.m. tipoff. The winner of that CCC Tournament Quarterfinal will advance to the semis, slated for later in the week.

The Warriors are led by senior Maci Bozett, who last week dropped 32 points on the Beacons, going 9-for-11 from the field and 4-for-4 from downtown in the upset win over NCU. In addition, Jordan Woodvine will look to finish her first season with the Warriors strong, proving to be a playmaker throughout the 2017-18 campaign – and she will need to do more of the same on Tuesday. In addition, Emily Yost is back in the lineup for the Navy and Gold, providing an inside presence that could be critical in a tight CCC Tournament contest.

The opponent – No. 14-ranked and No. 3-seeded Northwest Christian. The first time the two teams met up in Salem way back in November, it was the Beacons which got the best of the Warriors, 85-69. Anamaria Virjoghe proved to be a dominant force inside in that game, scoring 17 points to go with eight boards and six blocks. In addition, Katerina Brejchova scored 15 points and grabbed 13 boards, while Niki Duncan totaled 19 points in the triumph.

For the Beacons, the team has already set a program record for number of wins, and even if they don't win the CCC Tournament, still have a good shot at earning an at-large berth to the NAIA National Tournament.

The Warriors will need to run the table in the CCC Tournament in order to keep their season alive, as the winner of the tournament will receive an automatic berth to the NAIA National Tournament.

Ticket prices on Tuesday night will be:
$5 – Adults
$3 – Students/Seniors

Live stats/live video will be available here via NCU's web portal.
