ASHLAND, Ore. – The No. 12-ranked Corban University softball team is headed down to Ashland for the 2018 Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) Tournament this weekend, presented by U.S. Bank. The tournament is slated for May 6-8 and will be hosted by Southern Oregon University.
The action begins Friday morning and will go through Sunday at University Field, with Monday designated as a make-up day if necessary. The winner of the tournament will earn an automatic berth to the NAIA National Tournament. Host Southern Oregon claimed the CCC regular season championship, granting them an automatic bid to the NAIA National Tournament; should SOU win the conference tournament, the automatic berth will be granted to the tournament runner-up.
The Warrior softball team's first game will be on Friday, May 4th at 4:30 p.m. against the winner of Game 2 between No. 3-seeded Oregon Tech and No. 6-seeded Carroll.

Corban (34-11) is led in the circle by senior Sabrina Boyd and freshman Ally Crakes. Boyd enters the tournament boasting a team-best 17 wins and a CCC-best 1.66 ERA, while also leading the conference in opponents' batting average (.209) and complete games (21). Crakes has also served as a strong contributor for the Warrior pitching staff, compiling a 2.43 ERA to go alongside six wins on the season.
Offensively, the Warriors are spearheaded by senior Maddy Melton, and juniors Mahina Chong and Jessie Isham. Melton has been a consistent presence in the leadoff spot for the Warriors throughout the season, leading the team with a .395 average and 62 hits. Chong has also been a nightmare for opposing pitchers, batting .377 with a team-leading 38 RBI. Isham, the reigning CCC Newcomer of the Year, is putting up similarly impressive numbers this season, posting a .664 slugging percentage and leading the team in home runs (8).
