CCC Tournament Preview – Corban Men’s Soccer Hungry for More

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – It's been a historic season for the Corban University men's soccer team, but the work isn't done yet for the Navy and Gold. On the heels of the squad's first outright regular-season conference title since 2013, the Warriors will now set their sights on the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) Tournament, presented by U.S. Bank, which kicks off today down in Springfield, Ore.

Tournament Central

The Warriors (14-0-2) enter the tournament as the No. 1 seed, tasked with facing eighth-seeded College of Idaho (8-8) at 11 a.m. at the Willamalane Complex.

Should Corban advance past the Yotes, then the squad would face the lowest-remaining seed in a semifinal matchup tomorrow.

The last time the Warriors and Yotes met, the Navy and Gold claimed a 2-0 win. Corban is led offensively by CCC Newcomer of the Year Matheus Giron (13 goals, five assists), who ranks second in the conference in goals and tied atop the CCC leaderboard in game-winners (4).

Giron is joined in the midfield by fellow First-Team All-Conference honoree Camilo Avendano (three goals, 13 assists), who figures to play a significant role in facilitating Corban's high-powered offense.

At the front line of attacking are Yuki Onishi and Charles Cleyton, both of which received All-Conference recognition for their exceptional play in 2019. Onishi (First-Team All-CCC) has registered seven goals and four assists this fall, while Cleyton (Honorable-Mention All-CCC) has notched six goals and dished out three assists.

Justin Keegan figures to anchor Corban's defensive efforts in goal, with the Second-Team All-CCC goalkeeper ending the regular season with a 0.83 goals-against-average. He will be supported by an outstanding back line, led by CCC Co-Defensive Player of the Year Allando Brown (five goals) and All-Conference Honorable-Mention Robin Terry.

The Yotes will bring a solid, balanced attack of their own to the contest. Four Yotes have scored five or more goals in 2019: Ahmet Huremovic, Ben Bechor, Bekir Cinac and Jack O'Leary (six goals).
