"We saw some awesome things out of our offense today," said Corban head coach Abigail Farler. "1-9 we got great production and great at-bats. We made some good defensive stops in both games. We saw areas that we can improve on with our pitching and know that if we make some adjustments we are able to walk away from a day like today with two wins. I'm proud of how hard the team fought in both games. Getting the win in game one should help the team to see their scoring potential."
In the win over Vanguard, the Warrior bats absolutely exploded in the first two frames, as Tatum Prechtel blasted a home run in the first to go with Jessie Isham and Makiah Johnson both recording RBI hits in the inning.
In the second, Prechtel laced an RBI triple to score Humphrey and make it 4-0, while later in the inning, Johnson homered to eventually make it 8-0.
Vanguard cut into Corban's lead, but Megan Rybar launched a home run in the fourth to make it 9-5, and the Warriors ultimately held on to win in the seventh, 9-8.
In the nightcap against Hope International, the Warriors held the lead until late, but HIU eventually came back to claim the three-run triumph.
Corban (2-4) returns to the diamond tomorrow for games against Ottawa University (Ariz.) and Marymount California University. First pitch in Lake Elsinore is slated for 3 p.m. against Ottawa and 8 p.m. against Marymount.
