SALEM, Ore. – Corban University Athletics announced on Tuesday that Warrior Assistant Athletic Director for External Operations, Danny Day, has accepted a new role at Whatcom Community College as the school's Director of Athletics. Day leaves following five years at the helm of Corban Athletic Communications.

"I am sad to see Danny leave the Corban family, but I am thrilled for him and his family as he takes his masterful talents and skills to Whatcom Community College," said Corban University Athletic Director Twiggs Reed. "Danny served with skill, integrity and humility while at Corban University. Danny earned national recognition for his outstanding work and elevated the Corban Athletic Communications and Sports Information to one of the most outstanding departments in the nation. I will always be thankful for the high level of excellence that Danny instilled in the Corban athletic department."

Since his start at Corban in 2014, Day has served as a member of the Warrior Athletics' leadership team. Since February of 2018, Day has served as an Assistant Athletic Director for the Warriors. During the interim period in 2018, Day helped hire Corban's new Athletic Director Twiggs Reed and new head men's and women's basketball coaches, Mitch Freeman and Bill Pilgeram. In addition, he served as a member of the hiring committee that brought Keegan Davis to Corban to start the first-ever men's wrestling program. Moreover, Day's role expanded to take on all external relations within the community for the athletic department, as well as overseeing the gym and Intramural programs.

During his time at Corban, Day garnered numerous sports information awards at both the conference and national levels while helping elevate Corban Warrior teams to new heights. At the 2017 CoSIDA Convention, Day was voted onto the NAIA-SIDA Board of Directors, and then in 2018, he was voted as the NAIA Sports Information Director of the Year for his outstanding work in the field of athletic communications, becoming Corban's first-ever individual to receive this award.

At Corban, Day was honored by his peers in the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) twice, voted the CCC Sports Information Director of the Year during both the 2015-16 and 2017-18 school years. The NAIA has also honored Day, with CorbanWarriors.com being named the No. 1 athletic website in the NAIA for the 2015-16 school year. Since Day took over at Corban, the Warriors' athletic website is the only website in the NAIA to be ranked in the top-six during each of the last four years.

On top of having one of the best websites in the NAIA, Corban was also honored in 2017 with the No. 1-ranked promotional video in the entire NAIA, one of a variety of Warrior videos that has received recognition on a national level.

"I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to work at such an amazing institution over these past five years," said Day. "To have the chance to be a part of such a great team of staff and coaches at Corban—where we have the ability to create a long-lasting and memorable student-athlete experience—has been both challenging and fun, and seeing the impact that the students are making in the world for Christ is even more exciting. It is hard to leave a place that has shaped me in so many ways and to say goodbye to the many relationships here at Corban that are so important to me, but I am excited for this new challenge and ready to see how God will continue to work in our family's life."

Day begins at Whatcom CC on April 1.
