BOX SCORE WALLA WALLA, Wash. – The (RV) Corban University men's soccer team sealed an undefeated 2019 non-conference schedule on Saturday afternoon, riding a 24th-minute goal from Kohl Hurtado to a 1-0 victory on the road against Whitman College.

"It's nice to get a good result without playing our best against a quality team," said head coach Tim Kagey. "We are excited for conference play next weekend."
Making his fall debut, Hurtado wasted little time finding the back of the net for the first time this season. The Warriors' leading goal scorer in 2018 scored in his first shot of the year, sneaking one by Whitman goalkeeper Matt Reich just over halfway through the first half.
That would be all the scoring the Navy and Gold would need, as Warrior goalkeeper Nic Farr tallied a trio of saves in his second-consecutive shutout. The senior from Turner, Ore. has now held opponents goalless in 245 minutes between the pipes.
As a team, Whitman out-shot Corban 10-5 on the afternoon, though Farr was able to handle each of the three on-frame shots fired off by the hometown squad. In contrast, four of the Warriors' five shots were on goal.
With the triumph, Corban moves to 2-0-1 on the season, joining the University of Providence and Oregon Tech as the only three teams in the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) to go undefeated in non-conference play.
The Warriors will now look ahead to their conference regiment, welcoming College of Idaho (September 20) and Eastern Oregon University (September 21) next weekend for the squad's first home contests of the 2019 season. Game time for both contests is scheduled for 3 p.m. at the CFC Soccer Complex.
