Corban Men’s Wrestling Stumbles at SOU in Regular Season Finale, 28-21

ASHLAND, Ore. – In the final tune-up before the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) Championships on February 18-19, the (RV) Corban University men's wrestling team was edged on the road by CCC rival (RV) Southern Oregon University, 28-21.

"We wrestled hard tonight and got some good wins," said head coach Keegan Davis. "We also learned some good things to work on in order to peak before conference."

The Raiders jumped out to an early lead with victories in the first two matches of the evening. Kane Nixon stemmed the momentum with a pin of Anthony Perez at the four-minute mark, but that would be the only Navy and Gold triumph through the first five matches.

No. 14-ranked David Rubio pinned Max Miller in the first period (2:15) to draw Corban within four after the 165-pound bout, but the Raiders responded with back-to-back pins at 174 and 184 pounds to put the dual out of reach.

Corban closed the evening with a gritty victory via decision from Tyson Stover at 197 pounds (12-8) and a forfeit triumph in the heavyweight clash.
