NAIA Championships Preview – Six Warrior Women’s Wrestlers Ready for National Stage

JAMESTOWN, N.D. – The biggest event of the year for NAIA Women's Wrestling is just a day away, with the Corban University women's wrestling team sending six grapplers to this weekend's NAIA National Championships in Jamestown, N.D. The event will be hosted at the Harold Newman Arena, and will feature the NAIA's best wrestlers vying for national recognition.

Corban's competitors at each weight are as follows:

101 – Brooke Burrows
116 – Kendall Martin, Tess Barnett
130 – Jaden South
155 – Gabrielle Tata-Rodrigues, Alexys Zepeda

Brooke Burrows (101 pounds) is returning to the big stage and will look to upset Nayeli Flores Roque from Eastern Oregon University in her first round, and make some noise in the 101-pound weight class.

Meanwhile, Tess Barnett (116 pounds) has made a name for herself this season and will look to deliver a peak performance tomorrow. The rookie is 14-7 so far this season, and hopes to make a few more tallies in the win column.  

Also competing at 116 is Kendall Martin who will have an opportunity to get another taste of the NAIA's biggest stage this weekend. She will wrestle No. 6-ranked Ashley Gooman from the University of Providence to start things off.  

In the 130-pound weight class Corban sent Jaden South to make her second appearance at the NAIA National Championships. South will have a first-round bye and is set to compete against Leidaly Rivera from Brewton-Parker College in round two.

No. 7-ranked Alexys Zepeda made history at the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) Championships. Zepeda placed third in the 155-pound weight class and became the program's first ever All-Conference honoree. Coming off that incredible performance, Zepeda will look to continue her historic postseason run this weekend.
