The Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) office announced the 2022 Baseball All-Conference team on Friday, with the Corban University baseball team having five players named to the elite lineup.

Five Warriors Earn All-Conference Awards for Corban Baseball

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) office announced the 2022 Baseball All-Conference team on Friday, with the Corban University baseball team having five players named to the elite lineup. Zack Simon, Nate Martin, and Ryan Clay all garnered First-Team plaudits, while Nainoa Ka'ahanui and Cale Thompson each earned Gold-Glove Awards.

"I am so proud of these guys," said head coach Derek Legg. "Each one is very deserving of their award. There are a lot of really good players in our conference and for our guys to be labeled as best at their position is an awesome honor."

Simon had another outstanding season on the hill for the Navy and Gold. He boasted a conference-leading 1.64 ERA, and in his 76.2 innings Simon allowed only 14 earned runs and recorded 99 strikeouts. Martin is tied with Simon with five wins, and followed close behind the Warrior ace with a 1.90 ERA. Both righthanders will look to continue their standout seasons next week at the CCC Tournament.

Clay also received First-Team honors for his stellar rookie season. The Spokane, Wash. native has scored a team-high 34 runs on 37 hits and 15 walks. Clay has been a wall at third base and a reliable infielder at the hot-corner all season for Corban.

In addition to three players named to the First-Team, Corban had two Gold-Glove winners. Ka'ahanui boasts a .992 fielding percentage and has recorded only two miscues throughout the 2022 campaign. The Big Bend CC transfer in tandem with Thompson, have been a dynamic duo on the right side of the infield for the Warriors. Thompson has been consistent defender at second-base all season, recording a .990 fielding percentage.

Legg added, "We are all looking forward to competing as a unit next week in the conference tournament."

The Warriors will return to the diamond in Lewiston, Idaho to compete in the CCC Tournament next week. Corban is scheduled to play No. 1-seeded Lewis-Clark State at 4 p.m. on Monday vying for a ticket to return to the NAIA National Tournament.
