Warrior Men’s & Women’s Track & Field Named to USTFCCCA All-Academic Teams, Schmidt and Long Named All-Academic Athletes

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced on Wednesday, July 13^th, the team and individual recipients of All-Academic prowess for the 2022 Track & Field season. Both Corban University's Men's and Women's Track & Field teams were selected as All-Academic Teams, while Women's Track & Field student-athletes Valerie Schmidt and Gracie Long were selected as All-Academic Athletes.

"I'm extremely proud of the Women's and Men's track teams to earn this recognition," Men's & Women's Cross Country/Track & Field Head Coach Todd Bos shared in regards to the recent announcement from USTFCCCA.

"Doing your best in the classroom is an important part of our program. I'm blessed to see so many of our student-athletes succeed in competition, but even more so academically year after year," said Bos.

Men's and Women's Track & Field teams needed to obtain a cumulative Team GPA of at least a 3.00 to become eligible for this award, including the credits earned from transfer or graduate students earned while at their respective universities.

"It is also nice to see Valerie and Gracie earning the All Academic Athlete awards for their hard work," Bos continued. "They are a great representation of the types of student-athletes we have in our program."

Athletic success came into play for the individual recognition from USTFCCCA, as both Schmidt and Long not only had to maintain at least a 3.25 cumulative GPA, but also must have achieved an "A" or "B" standard in a Championship event in their respective events. Schmidt obtained her necessary standard in the Buc Scoring Meet last March, while Long punched her ticket just a week later at the Northwest Distance Jamboree in April.
