Harris Announces First Recruiting Class as Corban Men’s Wrestling Head Coach

SALEM, Ore. – Newly appointed Corban University Men's Wrestling head coach Nolan Harris wasted zero time recruiting one of the most diverse and competitive classes since taking over as the program leader, as he'll be welcoming seven new additions to the mats this upcoming season in what's expected to be one of the most anticipated seasons in program history.

"We're excited for our 2023 recruiting class which includes multiple state titles and placements, an NAIA national qualifier, and a Fargo All-American," Coach Harris shared. "We have some of the toughest wrestlers from Oregon, Washington, and Idaho that are working hard, meshing with the team and will look to make an immediate impact in our lineup and in the NAIA."

Coach Harris' first recruiting class as the leader of the Navy and Gold can all be found below with a brief biography written about the notable Warrior signees.

Antonio Garcia – 6'0" – 285 Wt. Class – Salem, Ore. – North Salem HS – Southern Oregon University

The only transfer of the 2023-24 class to have wrestled collegiately thus far is a massive addition to the program for Coach Harris, as Garcia trades in his red and black singlet from Southern Oregon University for a navy and gold clad uniform instead. He will have to sit out a season due to the conference transfer policy, but nonetheless is expected to be an incredible asset for the Warriors, having qualified for the NAIA National Tournament last season and bringing in a handful of All-American honors, state championships, and conference championships while wrestling locally at North Salem High School.

Garcia plans to continue pursuing a degree in biomechanics while at Corban with plans to attend physical therapy school in the near future.

Andres Nicacio – 6'1" – 174/184 Wt. Class – Vancouver, Wash. – Union HS – Oregon State University

One of two Vancouver natives from this year's class, Nicacio arrives at Corban with four years of eligibility under his belt despite entering academically as a junior with having already spent a year at Oregon State University. While at Union High School, Nicacio was a three-time district finalist, two-time league champion, and placed sixth in the state tournament.

Nicacio will be continuing the pursuit of a degree in biomedical science with the intent of becoming a medical physician.

Luke Bischoff – 5'10" – 165/174 Wt. Class – Mt. Angel, Ore. – Regis HS

Despite holding freshman status as he enters the collegiate wrestling scene, Bischoff has plenty of experience at the top of the wrestling community that he will bring with him to Corban, including a state runner-up trophy to pair with his 109 career victories at the high school level. In addition to his two-time state placements and three-time conference championships, Bischoff also served as the team captain for both the varsity men's wrestling and football teams at Regis High School.

A degree in biomedical science awaits Bischoff as he competes as a Warrior, with the hopes of becoming a large animal veterinarian upon graduation.

Gus Menne – 5'8" – 149/157 Wt. Class – Burlington, Wash. – Burlington-Edison HS

The only northern Washington recruit of this year's class, Menne brings an outstanding pedigree of wrestling with him to the Navy and Gold following an incredible high school career. Menne is a two-time state placer as a freshman and a senior for Burlington-Edison, a three-time district champion, two-time regional champion, and was selected as the Outstanding Wrestler for his program in three separate seasons. Additionally, he was named the Skagit Valley Herald Wrestler of the Year.

Menne anticipates running his own corporation after he graduates from Corban with a degree in business.

Cincere Pruitt – 5'5" – 149 Wt. Class – Vancouver, Wash. – Evergreen HS

A three-time district placer and two-time regional qualifier, Pruitt brings a level of athleticism and competitive drive that Coach Harris says is hard to find when recruiting incoming freshmen. Pruitt joins one of the Warriors' most viable weight classes to provide even more depth and skill in the most demanding conference for men's wrestling.

Pruitt is expected to pursue a degree in health sciences while a member of the Navy and Gold.

Jesse Rubio – 5'9" – 157/165 Wt. Class – Salem, Ore. – McKay HS – Chemeketa CC

Younger brother of Warriors' All-American and CCC Champion David Rubio, Jesse arrives to Corban's campus with an opportunity to continue the Rubio legacy and wrestle alongside his brother for at least the upcoming season. As a state placer and conference champion himself while at McKay High School, Jesse looks to elevate the Warriors to an even higher level of competition.

The second Rubio to join the Navy and Gold will be pursuing a degree in Kinesiology with the hopes of becoming an athletic trainer.

Isaiah Twait – 6'0" – 184 Wt. Class – Meridian, Idaho – Meridian HS

Prior to achieving his high school All-American honors, Twait signed with the Navy and Gold as a four-time state placer with Meridian High School, earning a state championship, a state runner-up trophy, and two finalist spots in the Reno Tournament of Champions. Twait, who becomes the second member of his family to wrestle collegiately after his father wrestled at North Dakota State University, was also part of three team state championships with Meridian and was ranked 27th in the country for the 182 weight class while competing at the high school level.

Twait will be studying biomedical science while at Corban and intends on becoming a Doctor of Physical Therapy upon completing his wrestling career.
