SALEM, Ore. – Corban University Men's & Women's Golf head coach Charlie Marshall has announced the six recruits who will be joining the programs this upcoming school year for the 2024-25 competitive season, with the class consisting of five female student-athletes and a single male golfer to help bolster each of his teams. All six recruits will be competing in their true freshmen seasons of athletic eligibility, ranging in origin from across the Pacific Northwest all the way to southern Africa.
"This will be an exciting year for both our men's and women's golf programs, as we will have a full team of student-athletes on each side to compete for His glory," shared Coach Marshall. "Our seasoned veterans will serve crucial roles in helping our six incoming freshmen become accustomed to the college playing style, and I'm really excited about not only developing each of them into exceptional collegiate golfers, but also watching them grow in their relationship with the Lord."

Elliott Chesla – 5'7" – Freshman – Brightwood, Ore. – Sandy HS
A three-year varsity girls' golfer for Sandy High School, Chesla arrives to the collegiate scene having participated in the Mount Hood Conference regional tournament for 6A programs the past two years as an individual and even earned Honorable Mention All-Conference status during her senior season. In addition, she was an Academic All-State selection in both the 2023 and 2024 spring seasons for the Pioneers.
Chesla will be joining the Warriors' newly developed nursing program so that she may one day pursue a career as a labor and delivery nurse.
Avery Hansen – 5'2" – Freshman – Dundee, Ore. – Newberg HS
Having participated in both cross country and girls' golf through her freshmen to senior years at Newberg High School, Hansen represents another dual-sport athlete that looks to utilize her athleticism to leave her mark on the Corban golf program, the Cascade Collegiate Conference, and greater NAIA levels. She was a varsity golfer for her junior and senior seasons at Newberg and a member of the Pacific Conference runner-up squad from the 2024 tournament.
Hansen will be studying biology during her time as a Warrior in hopes of one day becoming a physician's assistant.
Yaone Mokgatle – 5'2" – Freshman – Gaborone, Botswana – Balderstone Sports Institution
Traveling all the way from Gaborone, Botswana, Coach Marshall's first international signee for the Corban women's golf program will look to transfer her success from the courses of southern Africa to the rainy Pacific Northwest. Mokgatle finished as the runner-up at the Ebotse Links Tournament in 2022 and was top five in order of merit for the spring 2021 season, as well as a top five medalist during her spring 2021 tour.
A degree in journalism will help Mokgatle accomplish her dreams of one day becoming a journalist.
Madelyn Moore – 5'8" – Freshman – Vancouver, Wash. – Prairie HS
Perhaps the most decorated incoming freshman for the Warriors in 2024-25, Moore had an incredibly successful senior season for Prairie High School, as she was named the 2024 Greater St. Helens League Player of the Year after securing the individual league title, providing her with First Team All-League honors and leading the program to a league championship. Additionally, Moore was a member of the Falcons' volleyball team that placed fifth overall in the state championships in a season where she earned Honorable Mention All-League recognition.
Moore will be studying business management with dual concentrations in both accounting and marketing.
Riley Quillin – 6'3" – Freshman – Salem, Ore. – West Salem HS
The lone male golfer from the 2023-24 recruiting class, Quillin rejoins forces with ex-teammate and Corban sophomore David Harvey for the upcoming school year after finishing his final season at West Salem High School as the Central Valley Conference Individual District Champion. He was a two-time state qualifier for the Titans and a three-year varsity letterman on the boys' golf team, earning Academic All-State in each of his three seasons of competition. In addition, Quillin participated in OGA junior golf and a handful of USGA amateur golf tournaments prior to joining the Warriors' roster.
He is expected to pursue a degree in business management so that he may manage a golf course of his own as the head golf professional.
Ashlyn Thomas – 5'7" – Freshman – Springfield, Ore. – Marist Catholic HS
As a four-year varsity girls' golfer for Marist, Thomas placed third at the Special District Three Tournament during her senior season, where she shot personal best rounds of 84 and then 82 on the final day at the Running Y Ranch Golf Course to help lead her team to a runner-up finish. She later went on to place top ten at the 2024 OSAA state championships for 4A/3A/2A/1A programs.
Thomas is currently undecided on a future profession but will begin her freshman year by studying business administration as she determines her career ambitions.
